February 2010

February 7-14 is National Marriage Week each year. This year it falls Sunday to Sunday. We encourage you to take a few minutes each day this week to highlight and strengthen your marriage. Feed your marriage well and it will grow strong. It's worth it. Need a couple ideas?
  • In the tradition of 12 Days of Christmas, do a "7 Days of Marriage" with a small gift each day. One rose, a cup of favorite coffee, a book from their favorite author, or any small gift that says "I know you well and what you like". One each day.
  • Renew the "Because I Love You" Card for the week. Make sure it is passed back and forth at least once a day for the week.
  • Spend the week thinking ahead on how to make Valentines weekend a special time.
  • Take the couple check-up and spend a "Working Date" talking about it (see below for discount).
Pick something and make it happen. Even if your spouse doesn't immediately join in the game, do it because that's the kind of husband or wife you want to be and be proud of who you were at the end of the week.

Dr. Sytsma's Grace Article a National Marriage Week Devotional

MenIntheWord BannerThe Men of Integrity newsletter, Men in the Word, adapted Dr. Sytsma's Grace in Marriage article into a daily devotional for the week.

"Developing a true heart of grace in marriage is a difficult task. Like most things of value, it requires significant personal training. Working on a principle a day is a great way to start," according to Dr. Sytsma.

We invite you to add to your Marriage Week experience with this devotional from Men in the Word. Read through the scripture and story and allow God to work in your heart.

Sunday 2/7 - Why Give Grace?

Monday 2/8 - Love is ... Positive

Tuesday 2/9 - Bad Wife?

Wednesday 2/10 - He Couldn't See

Thursday 2/11 - Spotless and Spotter

Friday 2/12 - Preemptive Grace

Saturday 2/13 - Weekend Wrap-Up

Discounted Couple Check-up for National Marriage Week   30% off

PI_VIP_BannerThe charge for anyone purchasing the "Couple Checkup" between now and the 14th is only $19.95. This is a great value for this online marriage assessment. The Couple Checkup:
  • Helps you identify the strengths in your marriage so you can build on those strengths.
  • Gives you a 16-20 page full-color report with great graphs and charts assessing up to 25 areas of your marriage.
  • Based on 25 years of research on the popular Prepare/Enrich couple assessment used by over 2 million couples worldwide.
  • Can be used as a great communication tool. Plan a working date to discuss the results as a couple.
  • Helps you understand each other, and your marriage better.
  • It is Personal (you don't need to talk to a therapist or educator)... Private (take it in the privacy of your home or office)... Anonymous (no one knows your results except you)... and Practical (offers practical guidance for strengthening your relationship).
Highly recommended. We are so supportive of it, we provide a link right on our website. Buy it for yourself and your marriage. (Note: There are also versions for dating and engaged couples.)

Click on the button above. Enter your name and a password your and your spouse will share. Fill out the forms, pay with credit card and take the assessment. Each spouse will take it separately (using the same log-in information). The computer will compare your scores and provide you with the valuable report.
