| Greetings! |
 | | BDS Vault |
We hope everyone is having a great summer. If you are a Banyon North Dakota Customer, we have booked a small meeting room at the Canads Inn, Grand Forks for the NDLC Conference on September 20th from 1-5. We will have a small round table style set up in the Ambassador B room where you can come and ask questions on a one on one basis. This has worked great for those who have taken advantage of this at other conferences. We look forward to seeing you there. Recently Banyon has been sending out our BDS Vault information with our support invoices. Many of you have signed up for the BDS Vault and it is a great way to protect your Banyon Data in the event of a hardware crash, tornado, fire, or flooding. The cost is as low as $.19 cents per day and is very minimal compared to what the cost would be to reproduce that lost data. For more information click BDS Vault. Furthermore, see below for other important Banyon Data Systems Software information. |
New Computers
|
If you are planning on getting new office computers, let us know and we can send out a new software cd before the computers arrive. All new computers must have the software installed from a cd the first time. If one needs to be sent overnight, then charges do apply.
As a reminder:
If you are buying Microsoft Office 2010, DO NOT BUY THE 64 BIT, get the 32 bit version as there have been problems with the 64 bit.

Utility Billing Intelligent Postal Barcode
| Many have been asking or forwarding emails or letters sent from your local post office regarding the retired POSTNET Barcode and the use of an Intelligent Mail Barcode. To use this new format, contact your post office to obtain a mailer id and then from the main utility billing account screen click on the reports drop down, select bill forms, then click on the options tab. Next, click on the IBC Setup button and enter your mailer id.
*Please note if you are not currently printing postal bar codes on your bills, then this does not affect you. If you would like to see if you could get a special postal rate, then check with your post office to see and then under this options tab for bill forms, check the box to print postal barcodes.

Setting Software Key Behavior
|
Setting the key behavior in batches (Fund Accounting & Utility Billing) and the timecard (Payroll) can save time spent on key strokes.
Utility Billing Receipt Batch: To set this up right click from the main account screen and select setup, setup options, then click on the receipts tab. From here you have the option of where you want the cursor to begin within the batch. You can choose to start on check number, and stop on the amount when the tab/enter key is pressed.
Fund Accounting: From an active payment, receipt, or journal entry batch click on options on the right side and select "Set Skip Fields". From the setup screen, all batch types can be selected. Simply click on a field that you want skipped when you press the enter/tab button while working in a batch. Once you are done selecting, close out and a message will prompt to also close out of the current batch for changes to apply.
Payroll: From the timecard screen, click on "set key behavior" in the bottom left. Next, click on each field you would like to skip or click on the headings to skip the entire section.

Carbonite Backup Program
| Carbonite Backup Software has been found to cause issues with Banyon Data System's Software.
First, the Carbonite program has allegedly been causing "blue screen" affect on computers. This affects everything, not just Banyon Software.
Second, if running Carbonite in the background, or even if it is disabled and end task is performed, the Carbonite program will re-load automatically.
Finally, if running Carbonite Backup and Banyon Data System's Software, you may get an Action failed error after entering your password. Banyon has found no way around this issue and recommends Carbonite to be removed.
