Greetings!

Is it Spring yet?  What a crazy winter!

Summer is right around the corner and that means your residents will start doing renovations or new construction.  All this will require you to issue and track more permits.

If you are currently tracking permits and inspections on a spreadsheet, now is the time to look at what Banyon has to offer to make this easier.  For the next 60 days our Permit software will be $500 off.  See below for more details.

Utility Billing New Features

Current release of Utility Billing is 6.472 (release date 3-9-11)

Some new features are:

1.  Added category and resolution to the complaint section.  For those not using the complaint tracking give it a try.  (right click on main account screen and select complaint)

2.  Added ability to attach documents to accounts under the misc tab.

3.  Added option to allow default of displaying used services under service tab.  (From main account screen right click, choose setup, setup options.  Then in the first column check the box that says "Default to show used services only"

4.  Added reports in the service and rate setup to see what accounts are using that service or rate. (right click from the main account screen, choose setup, then services or rates.  Next, click on the reports drop down and select"print accounts using this service"

5.  We have also finished the PSN Interface (Payment Service Network)  This is an add on module where PSN can email your bills, take credit card payments & e-checks.  PSN can set up recur credit card payment for your customers, make automated phone calls to late customers, and send all receipts collected back to your Banyon Utility Billing Software where they can be loaded into the receipt batch area.  For more information on the Banyon/PSN Interface click here

6.  Please welcome Anissa to Banyon Data Systems Utility Billing customer service and support. Anissa, a graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead, has a strong customer service background and excellent people skills.
Fund Accounting & Payroll
1.  Fund Accounting has added a new field to the customer/vendor screen called "abbr name"  This can be used if you want to put an abbreviated name in for the vendor.  This field can then be printed on a report in the transaction category if you want to create a report to be sent to the newspaper for monthly disbursements to be published.

2.  PAYROLL: The employee portion of FICA for 2011 has been changed from 6.2% to 4.2% (employer portion stays at 6.2%). If you have not updated to payroll version 6.082, you must do it now, and make necessary adjustments to the FICA deductions. There is also a new 941 form that just came out.  Please make sure to download the new payroll if your payroll release date is older than March 2011, before running the 941 Quarterly Report for 2011.

3.  We also have a new feature in payroll that can automatically accrue comp time entered on the time card.  For example in the set up you can say accrue comp entered at time and a half.  So you enter 3 hours of comp time on the time card in the accrued and it will calculate to time and a half so you do not have to figure it out manually.  Call us to help you set this up if interested.

If you have any questions on the above information, let us know at 800-229-1130 or simply reply to sales@banyon.com.  If you are a Minnesota or Iowa customer, I look forward to seeing you at the up coming conferences.

Sincerely,

Chris Olson
