Kensington Woods High School
Boys' Basketball Underway!

The Boy's Basketball team played as a much improved and more cohesive team Wednesday night against Madison Academy, but suffered their second loss of the season, 30-58. Strong performances were made by all players, especially the starting 5: Marcos Frank, Dylan Ehlert, Greg Angell, Mike McMann, and Jacob Honey. Jacob scored 22 points, and is averaging 16 points a game. Dylan scored 8 points.  Most improved for the night was Foss Schnieder.

Auditions for "Almost Maine"

Are you interested in the theater? They come to auditions for "Almost Maine". The Drama Club is looking for performers and for backstage help, so there is a spot for everyone! Auditions will be held before and after school next Tuesday, from 6:30-7:30am and 3-4pm. You only have to attend one of the audition times, but are more than welcome to attend both.

"Almost Maine" takes place on a cold, clear moonless night in the middle of winter, where all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend-almost-in this delightful midwinter night's dream.

For more information about "Almost Maine" and the auditions, see the fliers posted around school or contact the Drama Club Director, Jason Pratt at jason.pratt@kwoods.org.

Washington DC Anyone?

Are you interested in traveling to Washington DC in the Spring? Kensington Woods has taken this trip several times in the past and it has always been a great educational opportunity.  If you are interested in going, please contact Mr. Gluth, rgluth@kwoods.org.

To keep expenses down, we travel by car and if there is a parent who would be available to chaperone this trip, please contact Mr. Gluth for more information.

Green Club is Underway!

recycle

The long awaited Green Club is starting next week!

A new club is underway at Kensington Woods High School! With a focus on changing our energy usage habits at school and in the community, the club will tackle projects around the school and in our bigger "backyard". With a short term emphasis on recycling more items used at KWHS at our local recycling center, one of the Green Club's longer-term focuses will be to make KWHS "Green Certified". Another possible focus will be to plan more native gardens around the school. It is important that we begin to educate each other about energy usage, pollution and other issues facing our planet today. Please consider joining this groundbreaking group! We need your ideas and your energy!

Beginning Wednesday January 19th, 2011,

Green Club will meet on Wednesdays,  from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Club Advisor: Mrs. Rohn, mrohn@kwoods.org

Club Meeting Place: Mrs. Rohn's room

Glee Club Parent Meeting

Are you interested in finding out more about KWood's Glee Club? Then attend the Parent Meeting next Tuesday!

As we move into the new semester, we have lots of fun and exciting plans for Glee Club!  We're looking at new pieces of music, considering performance opportunities, and discussing our future plans for the club.  We'd like to share some of our ideas and expectations with you and hear your questions at our Parent Meeting on Tuesday, January 18th at 7:00 p.m in the Big Room.  Rehearsal times and transportation are two issues we'd like your feedback on so that we can plan accordingly.  We want to work with you to make our Glee Club rehearsals as convenient as possible so that the experience is the best it can be!

Baseball Preseason Clinic

Are you a returning Baseball player or interested in joining the team this spring?

Kensington Woods is beginning a relationship with MSA-Livingston, a new baseball/softball facility in Howell by the Howell Armory. We will most likely be practicing there during the season as well. They are hosting a preseason clinic starting this Saturday for batters, pitchers and catchers. They have batting cages, pitching mounts and experienced coaches.

They normally charge $100 for the six sessions, but are offering KWoods players a special rate of $50 for the sessions.

You can find out more on their website, www.msa-livingston.com

If you are registering, just let them know you are a KWoods student, and they will take care of you!
