The Parent Group Wants You!
|
The Parent Group is an active, dynamic group that does a lot of things for Kensington Woods, including hosting Fall Festival, Staff Appreciation Lunches, Hot Lunches, helping run school fundraisers for school trips and events, providing student extracurricular scholarships when possible and many other things! But for all of these things to happen, they need help!
Below are updates from the Parent Group at KWoods; please consider helping them out in the coming year to make KWoods even better!
Red Cross Blood Drive
KWoods is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive Friday, October 8th from 9am-2:45pm.The Parent Group is
asking our families to provide snacks and drinks for the event. If you
could send in cookies or other snacks, orange juice, or other drinks, we would much appreciate it! Please have your
child bring it in the day before or the morning of
the Blood Drive. Ms. Waas is in charge of this, so to assist her, it
helps if you RSVP me with the item you'll be providing and I'll keep her

Fall Festival
Friday, October 22nd will be our "Homecoming" event
held at Wildwood Ranch in Howell, with a football game (Staff + Alumni versus Students) and a bonfire with hot dogs
and hot chocolate. We will need lots of parent volunteers on one-hour
shifts for this event, to include taking tickets at the gate and cooking
the food, to set-up and tear-down. I am chairing this event, so
please contact me to help out. This event was truly a blast last year
and the kids and staff loved it. Tickets will be on sale

Fantasy of Lights Parade
We are excited to be making plans to build a float for Howell's
Fantasy of Lights Parade November 26th (day after Thanksgiving). This is our
first attempt at this, so we'll need LOTS of help getting this
accomplished. Since there's a minimum number of lights (5,000), we're
asking for parents and KWoods friends to donate clear lights to us now for this, along with
scoping out in the community for donations of them. Do any of you work at
a hardware store or another place that can donate them, Salvation Army, Habitat
for Humanity store? Please let me know if you can help out, as this
will be a truly fun event for our kids. We'll need tons of their help,
too, designing the float, then building it on Cedar Lake Road in Pinckney
at the Stephen Family home. A big THANK YOU to the Stephens!
Fundraising
Our Fundraising chairperson could use your help periodically
also, as she is working a lot of overtime in her job. If you're
interested in this, please contact me. We'll have more information on
this subject in later Enews editions.

Interested in Carpooling?
|
There has been a lot of interest in a carpool list. If you are interested in signing up, either sign up on the list in the Main Office or contact Karen Jacobs in the Main Office at 517.545.0828 or kjacobs@kwoods.org. Once the list is complete, she will send out contact information to the families on the list.
