The Feast of Pentecost

Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

10am: Holy Eucharist
Our late morning service is accompanied by organ music, congregational singing, and the offerings of our adult mixed choir. On the first, and occasionally second, Sunday of each month, Soul Purpose, our contemporary music band, accompanies the liturgy. Nursery care is available for our youngest members and guests. Upcoming Events

Please join us for the Taizé chamber group this summer! During communion this summer we will be singing Taizé songs. These are songs based on lines from the Psalms or other pieces of scripture that were conceived and composed for the Taizé Community founded by Frčre Roger in Switzerland in 1940. The melodies of Taizé song feature simple, short  melodies that may be repeated again and again, giving them a meditative quality that allows everyone to participate in listening to God through prayerful singing. We will sing a different song every week, and will need a number of voices who know the melodies to aid us in worship. Beginning in June, following coffee hour church organist, Naomi Shiga will spend 10 to 15 minutes in the Sanctuary teaching the new song for the following Sunday. From the non-music readers to the instrumentalist (any instruments are welcome!), young to old, all welcome! It is always as important to have a singing leader in the congregation as the choir loft. If you are simply interested to learn to support congregational singing from the pew, you can still join us for the rehearsal. We will use some of our more rare hymns to warm up, so your hymn repertoire should grow in this summer too!

Join us for the Weekly Saturday bike ride! We gather at eight o'clock Saturday morning at the Meeker Trailhead of the Foothills Trail, located across from Van Lierops Bulb Farm just off of E Pioneer Ave. Directions to the trailhead, as well as complete descriptions of each section of the trail, can be found at the Foothills Trail website. We ride all the way to Orting, a distance of approximately seven miles, where we'll be stopping for refreshment at the new Fox Hollow Coffee. At a leisurely pace, the ride out and back takes a bit less than an hour each way, so depending on how long we linger over coffee the whole trip is about two and a half hours. You should be back by 10:30 or so, in plenty of time to visit the downtown Puyallup Farmer's Market. All bicycles and bicyclists are welcome. Like to speed along then wait for the group while smugly enjoying your coffee? Great! Rather chat while rolling along at a fair mosey? Great! The Cornerstone Garage, behind the Office, is equipped with tire pumps, tools, and a bike stand, in addition to a wonderful new garage door. If you need to get your bicycles out of winter storage and tuned up, just contact Fr. Ben for a time to come by the garage. See you on the trail!!!

Tapestry Singers' Spring Concert, 'Of Hope and Home: Longings of the Heart' Sunday, May 23rd at 3 pm at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 10510 136th St. E., Puyallup. Join us for music, a gift basket raffle, and refreshments after the program. Monies raised from the gift basket(s) drawings will benefit the Tapestry Music Scholarship to Emerald Ridge High School.

On Sunday, June 6th, there will be a training/refreshing session for all current and interested Altar Party members. The training will take place after each service that morning. If you are already involved in one of these ministries, please plan to attend so that we can all be on the same liturgical page as we worship. If you are interested in participating, or are simply curious, you are also invited to sit in and ask questions. Ministries included under the "Altar Party" label are: Lay Readers, Chalice Bearers, Eucharistic Visitors, Acolytes, and Servers. Serving at the Altar on Sunday mornings and other occasions of worship is both an honor and a responsibility. When done with faith, it can also be a joy! Thank you for your ministry, and we hope to see you at this training session.

The study series' will have both a real-time, in-person component, as well as an anytime, online component. You can get all the details by checking out the new CECoP Book Study Blog.

General Announcements

Support Our Troops: during the summer months, 7,500 single soldiers will be coming home to Joint Base Lewis-McChord. We would like to support these single soldiers and stock up their living quarters with non-perishable food and hygiene items. Examples of items that would be appreciated are: chips, pretzels, nuts, bottled water, hygiene items, and non-frozen TV dinners. We will collect them in the bins in the Parish Hall, and they will be delivered to JBLM. We won't need help with mailing packages this time, but we would appreciate any donations. --Kathy Frisbee

Forward 'Day by Day' devotionals are here for May-July. Look for the blue pamphlet holder on the table by the name tag board. The suggested donation of $1 helps to defray costs.
