January 15th The Second Sunday after The Epiphany
Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ
is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your
Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory,
that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives
and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Isaiah 62:1-5
Psalm 36:5-10
1 Corinthians 12:1-11
John 2:1-11 8am: Holy Eucharist
Our early service is unaccompanied by music and usually lasts about 50 minutes. Coffee and fellowship are offered before the service begins in the parish hall, while the sanctuary is available for quiet prayer. Another coffee hour follows the service.
9am: Sunday School In addition to Nursery care for children under three, there are two classrooms of Godly Play offered from pre-school through 2nd grade. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are invited to their own classroom where they'll study the Episcopal Prayerbook and Catechism in a pre-confirmation type class. One the first Sunday of most months, a special Children's Chapel event is offered for all kids. This year is brand new for us, so come early (or stay late of you're an eight o'clocker) and join us!
10am: Holy Eucharist
Our late morning service is accompanied by organ music, congregational singing, and the offerings of our adult mixed choir. On the first, and occasionally second, Sunday of each month, Soul Purpose, our contemporary music band, accompanies the liturgy. Nursery care is available for our youngest members and guests. A festive coffee hour for children and adults follows the Eucharist.

the 8 and 10 am services, on the table by the name tag board. There is always

the kitchen, just ask. Pledge Envelopes are ready for

you filled out a pledge/commitment card for 2010, there is a box of offering
envelopes with your name on them on the table by the name tag board. If you

2nd Annual CECoP Chili Cook-Off!
|
|
 |
From mild to wild, it's time for some chili!
On Saturday, February
sixth, at five o'clock in the afternoon, the Second Annual Christ Episcopal
Church of Puyallup Chili Cook-Off will commence. If you attended the first
annual you already know that this event is not to be missed!
Due to the economic and
budget restrictions we're all living under, this year's Chili Cook-Off will be
a variation on BYOB in order to keep costs down all around. When you come to
the Cook-Off, please bring either A) a pot of chili to enter into the
competition, B) a 6-pack of beer or soda, or a bottle of wine to share, or C)
five bucks. This way we should have enough chili to eat, enough beverages to
drink, and enough cash to cover the disposable dinnerware and the prizes. It's
a community party!
Last year we had a great
crop of chilies and almost ran out of room. In order to plan enough table
space, please register with Fr. Ben if you're planning on bringing a pot of
chili. You'll receive a set of chili master instructions and a reserved spot on
the table for your chili. We'll take reservations right up to the last minute,
but earlier is better.
Once again, awards will
be given in five categories. Three awards are given by popular vote: Best
Presentation, Most Original, and Best Overall Chili. Two special awards are
given based on very unscientific principles: the Father's Choice Award and the
Best 18 and Under Youth Chili Award.
Come one, come all, and
enjoy the art of the chili!
