Christ Episcopal Church of Puyallup
This Sunday

November 29th
First Advent

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Jeremiah 33:14-16
Psalm 25:1-9
1 Thessalonians 3:9-13
Luke 21:25-36

8am: Holy Eucharist
Our early service is unaccompanied by music and usually lasts about 50 minutes. Coffee and fellowship are offered before the service begins in the parish hall, while the sanctuary is available for quiet prayer. Another coffee hour follows the service.

9am: Sunday School
In addition to Nursery care for children under three, there are two classrooms of Godly Play offered from pre-school through 2nd grade. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are invited to their own classroom where they'll study the Episcopal Prayerbook and Catechism in a pre-confirmation type class. One the first Sunday of most months, a special Children's Chapel event is offered for all kids. This year is brand new for us, so come early (or stay late of you're an eight O'clocker) and join us!

10am: Holy Eucharist
Our late morning service is accompanied by organ music, congregational singing, and the offerings of our adult mixed choir. On the first, and occasionally second, Sunday of each month, Soul Purpose, our contemporary music band, accompanies the liturgy. Nursery care is available for our youngest members and guests. A festive coffee hour for children and adults follows the Eucharist.

Announcements

Upcoming Events

Giftmaker's Toys: will be collected on Sunday, November 29th, to be distributed to local families. Suggestions to make this year's gift giving a success: toys, books, and games for children 4-14; sporting equipment such as basketballs, volley balls, soccer balls, plastic bats and balls; infant and preschool toys; holiday stockings and stocking stuffers. Because of the difficult economic times for many families, the need is even greater this year than ever. Monetary donations are also appreciated since no school district money can be used for this project.

Advent Fair: will be Sunday, November 29th after both services. If you would like to reserve a table to sell your crafts and goods, please call the Office. There is no charge for the tables, but please tithe to the church from your sales.
Come and get a start on your Christmas shopping!

We could use some Help Moving Stuff for the Santa's Second sale on Tuesday, December 1st, and 5pm. Many hands make light work. Thanks for helping make this annual fundraiser a success!

Santa's Seconds Sale
: will be held on Saturday, December 5 from 10 AM to
3 PM. Setup will be on Friday, December 4, starting at 10 AM. We need volunteers! A light lunch will be served on both days.  For the past two years, profits from the sales have been higher than ever before. This was due to the high quality of the donations and taking the time to display them in an appealing manner. Things that always sell well include jewelry, stationery, greeting cards, Xmas decorations, clothing with a Christmas motif, linens, pictures, knick-knacks, candles, toys, games, and current books. Items should be in good repair. Old pieces of luggage; single, unmatched glasses and coffee mugs; and old computers and accessories do not sell well. Please donate them to local thrift shops. Donations may be left in the basement of the Cornerstone or on the back of the stage in the Parish Hall during the week before the sale. If you have questions, please call Stephanie Roberts at 253/840-4370 or email: whixers6@yahoo.com. Thank you!

St. Nicholas will be visiting us on Sunday, December 6th, at the 10am Eucharist. This is a first Sunday of the Month Children's Chapel day, so be sure to bring your kids at 9am for Sunday School, then stay for a special visit during sermon time.
