March 15th The Third Sunday of Lent
Almighty God, you know that we have no power in
ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and
inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities
which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may
assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
8am: Holy Eucharist
Our early service is unaccompanied by music and usually lasts about 50 minutes. Coffee and fellowship are offered before the service begins in the parish hall, while the sanctuary is available for quiet prayer. Another coffee hour follows the service.
10am: Holy Eucharist
This Eucharistic service is accompanied by our choir of mixed adult voices and organ, or on second Sundays of each month by Soul Purpose, our contemporary band. Nursery care and children's education are available during this service. A festival reception for kids and adults follows the service.
11:30am: Music rehearsals Following the worship services, our musical groups gather to prepare for the next weeks' offerings.

Upcoming Events
The Way of the Cross: A Visual Pilgrimage through Fourteen Stations and their Icons. Often called the Stations of the Cross, this is an ancient series of prayers originally practiced by pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem. Worshippers will be seated in the pews while a series of images are projected, to represent each station. The traditional prayers will accompany the images, and music will provide space for reflection and meditation. This worship opportunity is available on Friday evenings at 7pm on March 6, 13, 20, 27, and April 3.
A Lenten Program on Science and Religion
is available on Wednesday evenings in March. Gather at 6pm for Evening
Prayer, followed by a simple supper of soup & bread. The program
begins at 7pm. The series title is, How do we form the things we know? And how are we formed by them? The Rev. Dr. Lucas Mix, a priest in the diocese as well as a scholar of science and
religion, is our presenter. Class topics are: Week 1 (March 4): Religion and Science; Week 2 (March 11): Knowledge and Identity; Week 3 (March 18): Forming Belief; and Week 4 (March 25): A Way Forward? Lucas
will present his personal synthesis in the context of Anglican
Christianity. Then we will open up for discussion among the attendees. Participants
are welcome to come to any or all sessions and will be encouraged to
use their new insights. Join us as we explore the mystery of creation
by opening our hearts to the knowledge and love of God in Jesus Christ.
Knitting Ministry meets Monday, March 16th at 6 pm. Since our numbers have grown considerably, our meeting place has changed to the Argus Manor where Helen Godwin lives; in the recreation building. The address is 204 9th Ave. SE., Puyallup. This is the complex right after the Regency Retirement Home, catty corner from Cattin's Restaurant. You may park on the street or in one of the Visitor's spaces. We look forward to seeing the members as well as anyone else wishing to join us in this ministry.
Breakfast is served!, March 22nd at 9 am: Donations will gladly be accepted for the Women's Retreat October 23-25, 2009. Please note the date of the Retreat has been changed because of a conflict with the Diocesan Convention.
Support our Troops mailing will
be Sunday, March 22nd at 9 am. There is an updated list on the Welcome
table, of items to bring for the troops. Let's start collecting them
soon, so we'll have lots of boxes to mail for Easter. Monetary
donations are also welcome, to help pay for postage.

(Quickly) Upcoming Opportunities to Feed the Hungry
The Emergency Food Network (EFN) is offering us two opportunities to help with their Repack Project. Volunteers will pack frozen bulk product - corn, peas, mixed
vegetables, etc. - into one and two pound family sized bags. These bags
will then be distributed to those in need at Pierce County food banks. Everything happens at The Emergency Food Network Distribution Center, 3318 92nd St South in Lakewood. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
On Saturday March 21st two shifts are available. Shift one is from 9am to 12pm, and shift two is from 12pm to 3pm. The following week, on Friday March 27th, volunteers are needed from 12pm to 3pm.
Why help?
EFN knows the importance of a healthy diet and strives to provide nutritious foods to those in need in Pierce County. Through the Mother Earth Farm, the Orchard, the Cannery, and now the Repack Project, EFN is making strides in providing a healthy and reliable food supply so that no one in Pierce County goes hungry. By utilizing EFN's access to bulk vegetables, breaking them into smaller portions, and involving volunteers for labor, we will be able to provide a steady source of frozen vegetables for Pierce County.
Even though this invitation is extended to CECoP specifically, volunteers should sign up as individuals. Call 253-584-1040, or eMail Stephanie@efoodnet.org, or sign up online at www.efoodnet.org/volunteer.htm.
