us that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance, may be

with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A Spicy Time Had By All!
On Saturday afternoon, the 7th of February, something like sixty Christ Churchians gathered for an evening of delicious competition. Twelve pots of chili were on offer, and winners in several categories were elected by popular vote. Here are the victorious chefs:
Best Presentation: Kathy Mason Most Original: Andy Bary Best Youth Chili: Elena Bary & Ashley Dawson Father's Choice Award: Len Barrett Best Overall Chili: Oscar & Deanna Lindahl
Prizes ranged from a bright orange apron and chili pepper cutting mat, to a $25 "scholarship" to Forza Coffee Co., to the coveted "Golden Chili Bowl" trophy. Best Presentation and Most Original were runaway victories, but the Best Overall Chili was a close thing! Of course, the Father's Choice award comes down to just one vote, and there was only one entry in the 18 and under category (make note for next year, young chili chefs! Cash prizes!!!).
Thanks to the event staff: Elsa Woodard, JT Morgan, Gary Chaussee, Bill Woodard, Diana Mears, and Maury Hedlund. Thanks also to the chili chefs whose only recognition was the empty pots at the end of the night: Rosalynn Gallagher, Helen Godwin, Jim Mears, Barry O'Brien, Mac Owen, Carol Pica, and Paul Russell. All the chili's were delicious, and I wish we'd had 12 prizes!
The second Annual Christ Episcopal Church of Puyallup Chili Cook-Off is scheduled again for the first Saturday in February, the 6th, in 2010. Start working on that recipe now, or girding up your tummy for more chili tasting!
