February 15th The Sixth Sunday after Epiphany
O God, the strength of all who put their trust
in you: Mercifully accept our prayers; and because in our weakness we
can do nothing good without you, give us the help of your grace, that
in keeping your commandments we may please you both in will and deed;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
8am: Holy Eucharist
Our early service is unaccompanied by music and usually lasts about 50 minutes. Coffee and fellowship are offered before the service begins in the parish hall, while the sanctuary is available for quiet prayer. Another coffee hour follows the service.
10am: Holy Eucharist
This Eucharistic service is accompanied by our choir of mixed adult voices and organ. Nursery care and children's programing are available during this service. A coffee hour for kids and adults follows the service.
11:30am: Music rehearsals Following the worship services, our musical groups gather to prepare for the next weeks' offerings. |

In case you miss a session, also available on...
Thursdays in March: 6pm evening prayer and supper, 7pm program St. James, Kent 24447 94th Ave S Kent, WA 98030 253.852.4450
How do we form the things we know? And how are we formed by them?
Week 1 (March 4 or 5): Religion and Science The field of epistemology investigates how we know what we know. The talk will focus on epistemology in science and religion, and how they are related. Science presents a unique way of looking at the world that helps us understand reality, but it can be blind to some important concepts. Come explore with us the place of science in Christian faith.
Week 2 (March 11 or 12): Knowledge and Identity True faith requires action in the world. This talk will cover how knowledge and belief affect our daily lives. Things we know deeply impact the way we interact with the world around us, both for good and ill. Find out more about how personal commitments to truth in Christianity make a difference in your life.
Week 3 (March 18 or 19): Forming Belief In popular culture, we frequently see science or Christianity used as defenses for certain beliefs or types of behavior. How well are these arguments justified based on our understanding of science? We will explore the relationship between science and scripture in coming to understand the world.
Week 4 (March 25 or 26): A Way Forward? Lucas will present his personal synthesis in the context of Anglican Christianity. Then we will open up for discussion among the attendees.
Participants are welcome to come to any or all sessions and will be encouraged to use their new insights. Join us as we explore the mystery of creation by opening our hearts to the knowledge and love of God in Jesus Christ.
--- The Rev. Dr. Lucas Mix is a priest in the diocese as well as a scholar of science and religion. He studied comparative religion and biochemistry at the UW, before taking a doctorate at Harvard in evolutionary biology. After that, he took an MDiv at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and was ordained on Epiphany 2008. Lucas' book on the philosophy, science, and history of life, Life in Space: Astrobiology for Everyone (Harvard Press) will be released this month.
