This Sunday

September 7th
The Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost (Proper 18)

Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
8am: Holy Eucharist
Our early service is unaccompanied by music and usually lasts about 50 minutes. Coffee and fellowship are offered before the service begins in the parish hall, while the sanctuary is available for quiet prayer. Another coffee hour follows the service.

10am: Sunday School begins this week!

10am: Holy Eucharist
This Eucharistic service is accompanied by Organ and includes congregational hymns and service music. During the summer months our choir is on sabbatical and various musical offerings will be made during the liturgy. A coffee hour for kids and adults follows the service.

11:30am: Music rehearsals
Following the worship services, our musical groups gather to prepare for the next weeks' offerings.

Stewardship Season is Approaching!
by Rick Tanner
Practical, Spiritual, and Visionary Giving

On September 20, 2008 we launch our stewardship campaign, Practical, Spiritual and Visionary Giving. We will have an All Parish Dinner, Saturday September 20th at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. This is an important opportunity for us to consider our commitment to Christ Church, not as individuals alone, but as part of a body that God has created for his purposes. Many of us have given faithfully of our time, talents and finances. Over the span of several Sundays the three themes will give us time to reflect and respond. The first theme Practical Giving, will address the numbers and needs of our parish. Secondly the theme of Spiritual Giving will focus on our religious practice of giving. The final theme will be Visionary Giving, which will address where we want Christ Church to be in five, ten and fifteen years. This year's theme will ask of us to respond to the needs or our parish, now and in the future. Giving more when we already feel stretched is a daunting, and perhaps an impossible, task for any of us to undertake alone. Practical, Spiritual and Visionary Giving is an opportunity for us to take this step together, under God's leadership.

As part of this year's Stewardship dinner, we will need volunteers to host individual tables. A buffet style dinner will be provided. The hosts are asked to supply place settings, table decorations and dessert for six people for the evening's dinner. If you would like to host a table, there will be sign up sheet in the Parish Hall or call Rick Tanner at 253.445.1975. We will need hosts for 12 tables.

We hope to see you on Saturday, September 20, 2008 for a wonderful meal and fellowship!
