Food and fun are guaranteed with a $10 donation at the door! Stick around, buy a raffle ticket, get a massage while you're there! What's in the raffle basket? $200 gift cert from FU's Custom Tattoos, gift certs from PowerSportsCenter, one of Lake Norman's premier wake boarding and water skiing shops, mountain khakis gift certificates, and much, much more!
A special thanks to Doug Cosby, owner of Inner Peaks for caring not only for local climbers but for children on the other side of the world.

Kilimanjaro Summit 2009!
Will you join us?

What would you do to provide hope to children? How about summitting Africa's tallest mountain?

Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain on the continent, with a summit of 19,340 feet and from September 12-24, 2009, a team of twelve big-hearted people will climb it to raise awareness and funds for HIV+ children in Sub-Saharan Africa.   The climb will be led by Simon Mtuy of Summit Expeditions & Nomadic Experience.

Summitting on the same day as 2009's Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up, this adventure is a nice addition to our overall theme: overcoming huge obstacles and seemingly insurmountable heights to help others.

We ask that each team member to raise $10,000 for AFCA by collecting pledges from your friends, family, and your workplace. We are here to help you accomplish this goal, and will provide you with suggestions on how to raise money for your climb.

Are you simply wild about wildlife? Do you feel passionately about the African bush and would love to make it part of your career?   Perhaps you would like to get a taste of whether this is the career for you?

EcoTraining, the pioneer and leader of Field Guide and wildlife courses in southern Africa, aims to put the bush back into Africa for all those searching for the most authentic Field Guide and wildlife training. We believe that no-one can truly learn and understand Africa's wildlife without actually being in the wild.   We are the only training provider to train from a camp in the Kruger Park.

EcoTraining offers a One Year and 28 day Field Guide courses as our main focus and we also offer shorter courses for those that would like more of a wilderness learning experience than a course for a career. These are the EcoQuest - nature identification; Game Ranger Experience; Animal Tracks and Tracking; Birding with Lawson's Bird Academy and Wildlife Photography.

Course participants receive lectures on animal behaviour; tracks and tracking big game; ecology; bird identification, astronomy, 4 x 4 driving skills; orientation and navigation in the bush and much more. Morning and evening outings into the wilderness as well as a daily lecture in our open-air bush classrooms provides for an interactive learning eco-adventure. The One Year and 28 day Field Guide courses are accredited by the South African Field Guide Association of southern Africa (FGASA) and endorsed by the National Tourism and Hospitality Training Department (THETA).

EcoTraining's camps and game reserves are authentic. Our students co-exist in the environment, when sleeping they hear elephants browsing on leaves and nightjars call right outside the tents. Accommodation is walk-in safari style tents with shared bathroom facilities with decked communal areas where participants gather for meals and lectures every day.

So, are you ready to take on that exciting challenge? With 15 years of experience in this industry, EcoTraining is able to answer your questions and help you make an informed and sensible decision about a career in Field Guiding.
