County Moving Forward on 2012 Budget
Jefferson County is one more step closer to having its 2012 Budget approved. The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) held a public hearing on Nov. 15 to take comments from the public on the proposed 2012 Budget that had been presented to the BCC on Oct. 11. Three citizens made public comments at this hearing and many comments were received at citizen input meetings and public meetings.
Chairman Faye Griffin and Commissioner John Odom thanked all the elected officials, department directors, and especially the Budget Director Tina Caputo and her staff for all the hard work in preparing the budget.
Chairman Pro Tem Donald Rosier added, "We would like to thank staff for putting together the budget and assisting us as we used the zero-based budgeting technique for the first time for Human Services and the Library. This enabled us to find savings and eliminate duplications."
The final 2012 budget will be up for adoption at the Dec. 6 BCC public hearing at 8 a.m. in the first floor hearing room of the Administration and Courts Facility, 100 Jefferson County Parkway in Golden.
