Swearing-in of Jefferson County's Elected Officials 

Swearing-in Ceremony, 2011At Jefferson County's swearing-in ceremony on January 11, Faye Griffin, District One Commissioner, served as the master of ceremonies for the swearing-in Donald Rosier as District Three County Commissioner; Ted Mink as Sheriff; James Everson as Assessor; Pam Anderson as Clerk & Recorder; John Graham as Coroner; and Tim Kauffman was sworn-in as Treasurer.

 

Don Rosier

Jefferson County Commissioner

Donald Rosier was elected Jefferson County Commissioner (District 3) in November 2010 and will be sworn in on January 11, 2011.  He is a third generation Coloradoan who has lived in Jefferson County his entire life.

 

Rosier is a graduate of Colorado State University with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis in water resources.  He has worked in the consulting engineering field, the public engineering sector, the land development and construction field, and the energy development and exploration field.

Most recently he was Vice President of Operations at Summit Oil Field Services and a principal with Westside Investment Partners.  Previous positions include Director of Land Development at Alliance Commercial Partners and Vice President at Neumann Homes.  One of his first positions was as a Review Engineer with the City of Westminster.

 

Ted Mink

Jefferson County Sheriff

On July 9, 2003, the Board of County Commissioners appointed Ted Mink sheriff of Jefferson County. The following year, Mink was elected sheriff and reelected in 2006 and 2010.

Mink's law enforcement career began in 1973 when he became a deputy with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. Later that year, Mink left Boulder and joined the Arvada Police Department as an officer.

 

Mink served for six months as undersheriff of Jefferson County before his appointment to sheriff.  Since becoming sheriff, he and Undersheriff Ray Fleer have focused on community partnership and have implemented a wide variety of community-oriented policing programs such as SMART Jeffco, a proactive approach to solving crime and quality-of-life problems that requires that staff analyze crime statistics, trends and contributing factors, and implement preventive plans quickly to attack the problem at its source.

 

James Everson

Jefferson County Assessor

Jim Everson was elected Jefferson County Assessor in 2006 and again in 2010.  He is a registered appraiser and member of the International Association of Assessment Officers.  Prior to joining the Assessor's office, he was Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of CommNet Cellular, Inc. a publicly traded rural cellular telecommunications company located in Greenwood Village, Colorado.  Everson has practiced law in Jefferson County and is a member of the 1st Judicial District Bar Association.  A Colorado native, Jim received his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Denver.

 

Pam Anderson

Jefferson County Clerk & Recorder

Pam Anderson was elected the Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder in 2006 and again in 2010. Previously she had served as the elected City Clerk for the City of Wheat Ridge. Anderson has worked in the banking and service industries, in city and state government in management and administration and as a legislative aide to several representatives in the Colorado State Legislature. The Clerk & Recorder's division is responsible for several functions including coordination of Elections, Recording of all public documents, Motor Vehicle registration, and Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners.  She has a B.A. in History and a Masters degree in Public Administration.

 

Anderson is a Certified Election Official for the State of Colorado. She also serves as a Commissioner for the Election Best Practices and Vision Commission for the Colorado Secretary of State. She is a Republican, a member of the Colorado County Clerks Association and the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks.

 

John Graham

Jefferson County Coroner

John Graham recently retired from the Arvada Police Department after 21 years with the Criminal Investigations Bureau. His duties included managing the Crime Laboratory and conducting major crime scene investigations for the department. These investigations frequently involved offering expert testimony in criminal court proceedings. He enjoyed a close working relationship with the Coroner's office during his career.

 

Graham also served as a member of the Jefferson County District Attorney's Critical Incident Response Team, a unit of specialized and veteran investigators who assist the DA in police officer-involved shootings. Graham is a Registered Medicolegal Death Investigator, awarded Diplomate status in the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.

 

 

Tim Kauffman

Jefferson County Treasurer

Tim Kauffman has been a resident of Jefferson County since 1994. He has served as Jefferson County Treasurer for the last two years, having been appointed when Faye Griffin moved from the treasurer position after being elected as a commissioner in 2009. He has been vice president of High Plains Bank in Lakewood and held management positions with FirsTier Bank and SunCorp Corporate Credit Union, both in Westminster; and Colorado Credit Union League in Arvada. He served on the Jefferson Economic Council Board of Directors and was a member of the Westminster City Council for seven years including four years as Westminster mayor pro tem.

 

Faye Griffin to Chair Jefferson County Board of Commissioners in 2011 

 

Fay Griffin Named Chairman for 2011 BCCCounty Commissioner Faye Griffin has been named the 2011 chairman of the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners and Donald Rosier will serve as chairman pro-tem. Griffin also will chair the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Authority (LEA) Board of Directors with Rosier as chairman pro tem.

 

Commissioners Griffin, Rosier and Kevin McCasky approved the 2011 organizational structure at the Board's hearing on January 11, 2011, appointing the chairman and chairman pro tem, and confirming appointments to various boards and commissions where the commissioners represent Jefferson County.

 

Chairman Griffin was sworn-in as a County Commissioner in 2009. Her election to the three-member Board of County Commissioners caps a 35 year career with Jefferson County.  She first joined the county staff in the Clerk & Recorder's Office, where she worked on the staff for 24 years until she was elected Clerk & Recorder in 1998. She served two terms and was then elected County Treasurer in 2006.  She served two years of a four-year term as Treasurer before her successful bid for the Board of Commissioners seat.

 

Griffin is a Jeffco native who graduated from Golden High School.

Donald Rosier Sworn-in as Jeffco's Newest County Commissioner 
 

Newest commissioner Don Rosier being sworn inDonald Rosier is Jefferson County's newest Commissioner.  He was elected to serve this office in November 2010 and sworn in on January 11, 2011.

Growing up in Arvada, Rosier attended Swanson Elementary, North Arvada Junior High, and Arvada Senior High. He is active in sports and played competitive and high school soccer, basketball, swimming, baseball, and track.

 

He and his wife, GeriAnn, have lived in south Jefferson County since 1992. They have three school-aged children; a daughter and two sons. An active community volunteer, he served as a member and chairman of the Jefferson County Community Development Advisory Board for eight years, teaches Sunday school, coaches lacrosse, and volunteers at local schools.

 

Vacancies on the Jefferson County Planning Commission

Bailey Becker, Jefferson County Public Information 

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners is looking for applicants for the county's Planning Commission. 

 

This commission consists of volunteer members that make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on a wide variety of land use applications that include rezonings, special uses, vacations, special district service plans and subdivision plats. The commission also updates and adopts the county's Comprehensive Master Plan.

 

Planning Commission members review staff reports and presentations, make physical site inspections to all sites that are on the meeting agendas, review regulations, attend pre-meetings and attend all Planning Commission public hearings. Commission members receive a stipend of $20 per hearing and $20 per case.

 

The Planning Commission generally meets each Wednesday, except the third Wednesday of the month, at the Jefferson County Administration and Courts Facility, 100 Jefferson County Parkway.
