BCC Modifies Agreement with FAA for VOR Relocation at Airport
Commissioners approved a modification to the intergovernmental agreement with the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), increasing the cost of the preliminary site survey for the relocation of
Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport's radio navigation system.

The original cost to relocate the VOR, or Very High Frequency Omni-directional Radio Range, was about $40,300, but the FAA determined that more civil engineering work was needed to complete the study. The new cost is about $52,900.
Airport staff has been working with the FAA to relocate the VOR, which needs to be moved because of future work associated with the Jefferson Parkway. The FAA's work includes a feasibility study, a preliminary engineering design and cost estimate, and a detailed plan for final design, construction and relocation.
The preliminary site survey associated with the relocation of the VOR should be completed by spring.
