February is American Heart Month
Did you know that heart disease accounts for more deaths in the U.S. than any other health condition? American Heart Month is a great opportunity to educate your employees about their risks for heart disease, as well as ways to prevent it.
Simply knowing the risk factors for heart disease is the first step to improving heart health. With that in mind, we've put together a few ideas that you can use to educate your employees about their heart health in the month of February.
1. Plan a blood pressure screening. High blood pressure is the single most significant risk factor for heart disease, so schedule a blood pressure screening for your employees to see if they are at risk.
2. Schedule a cholesterol screening. Cholesterol is another important indicator of heart health and heart disease risk. A cholesterol screening can provide your employees with a complete picture of their cholesterol numbers and guidance on improving their numbers.
3. Download this free hand-out to share with your employees. The hand-out highlights five steps to living a heart-healthy lifestyle.
If you would like to schedule an on-site blood pressure or cholesterol screening, please call Affiliated Physicians at (877) 292.5546, ext. 176 or email mmorris@affiliatedphysicians.net.
