November is
"American Diabetes Month"
Whether you know it or not, your company is impacted by diabetes on a daily basis. It could be that you have an employee that is one of the 24 million people in the United States suffering from diabetes, or it could be that an employee is one of the 57 million additional Americans at risk of developing diabetes.
No matter what the scenario, November has been declared American Diabetes Month by the American Diabetes Association. The association uses the month as an opportunity to raise awareness of the disease and its serious complications.

Plan for 2011 - Schedule a Health Screening Program for Your Company
Before you know it, 2011 will be here and your employees will start their annual ritual of making resolutions to lose weight or to get in better shape. Q: What is your opinion about pharmaceutical grade vitamins? Should I go the extra bucks to buy them or is a brand like Centrum just as good?
A: The concept of taking vitamins and supplements is so appealing. With everything we know these days in the growing field of nutritional science about what the body needs, it seems impossible to imagine you can get everything you need even in a good balanced diet. Regrettably, most studies trying to reproduce the benefits of a diet high in fruits and vegetables by taking vitamins and anti-oxidants have been disappointing. The expensive "pharmaceutical grade vitamins" claim to use "pharmaceutical grade" raw materials, to increase such things as absorption and bioavailability.
There is no scientific data at all to support the idea that these vitamins are any better than plain old regular vitamins. It's all about marketing. You should spend your money on something more worthwhile.
