A New Look and A New Spiritual Direction Hat
Go to Maureen Carlson.com you'll see new graphics and a whole new section on Maureen's Spiritual Direction practice.
After 2 years of classes, a lifetime of listening to stories and a continuing supervision process, Maureen is ready to put our her card, hang the shingle and begin to sit with people in the role of listener and storykeeper.
If you've been to Maureen's classes, you might be wondering, "So, what's new about that!??" Well, let's just say that this is a continuation of what she's always done. But now she has a name for it, and a support system, and a renewed belief in the power of being present to one another.
During the supervision process, Maureen is looking for 4 people who would like to journey with her through this final stage of her training (as if it's ever over!!!!) . The fees will be reduced for these 4 people. Call or email if you're interested. In person or via Skype.
Check out the info on her web page.
Note that if you are a relative or personal friend
of Maureen, she will most likely refer you to another spiritual director.
Referals are welcome.

Debby was at Maureen's for Fantasy Week a few years back. It is so inspiring to see what she and Grenville are doing at their place in Canada. Awesome!
And didn't we have fun last week with Alice Stroppel and her classes!!! Check back with Alice here or on Facebook for her entertaining and informative reports. |

NEW STORYKEEPER PATTERN IS READY FOR DOWNLOAD
What's Your Story?
Story. It's how we make sense of our world. It's how we share who we are with another. It's how we remember those things that touched our past and shape our todays. Maureen is currently reading
Storycatchers, Making Sense of our Lives Through the Power and Practice of Story,
by Christina Baldwin. She says: "Story is the narrative thread of our experience - not what literally happens, but what we make out of what happens, what we tell each other and what we remember. " What are your stories? How do you share them and how do you keep them? Story is on our minds these days with the start of Maureen's work as a spiritual director, with Dan's new song and with our re-issued and updated pattern for the Storykeeper Doll. It's one way to keep track of your stories.
Store Your Memories Stash Your Treasures Create a Work of Heart
* Downloadable PDF * 25 pages * Uses Molds F7 and 11
This is one of the first patterns that Maureen designed when she started writing for magazines in the early 90's. It was a favorite of hers as it was beautiful, fun to make and had a useful purpose. It was a scrapbook in doll form.
Now she has updated it with the addition of step-by-step photos and numerous illustrations.
The original pattern included a resin head and hands that could be purchased separately (Do any of you remember those?). Regretfully those are no longer available. We do, however, have two push molds that can be adapted for this design. Molds are available at Weefolk.com

Have you ever taken one of Barb's classes? If so, then you know that it's about learning techniques, but about more than that, as well.
You get to play with supplies. You get to see what appeals to you. You get to do it YOUR WAY. But through it all is Barb's wise counsel as to how to make the art go deeper and wider with more color and more texture and more soul. You'll come away with a new understanding of how to use art materials to express your unique way of seeing the world.
Coming up are two classes, one on the process of making a Creative Journey Game (October 19 - 21) and one on Visual Journaling (Nov. 3 - 4).

The changing scenery of the American midwest are a gentle (or sometimes sharp and frigid !) reminder that everything has its time and its season, including the bridge that is pictured here, just up the river from Maureen's. It is gone, but is being replaced by a new bridge that should be up by next summer.
I wonder what new things will happen in each of our lives before the summer sun returns again to sparkle across the rocks and the water? What stories will we tell? And what will we remember and put into words or images or song?
Here's wishing you a creative and story-full autumn. Maureen and Dan Carlson Wee Folk Creations |
