Hidden Treasures..... cc=??????
Beginning with this June newsletter, we may be inserting a 6 digit coupon code(cc=) hidden somewhere in the newsletter. When this coupon code is used with our on-line email order form and your order is a minimum of $30.00, you will get a $5.00 discount. You may use the coupon code with any order during the month. Subsequent newsletters may or may not contain a new coupon code. So you will have to be diligent.
Could this be a plot to get customers to sign up and read our newsletter?
Anyway, save your coupon code for your on-line monthly orders and save some money. In this tight economy we all could use more of that, couldn't we? |
What's Happening at Maureen's?
This sculpture by Mike Divine shows some of what has been happening at Maureen's, though, I'm sorry to say, we DON'T have the easy chair.
Mike created this 9-inch tall sculpture during Fantasy Week in April 2008. You can see more photos of his work, as well as that of fellow students Nancy and Jessi, on our website at April 2008 Fantasy Week
The nature of the retreat business is busy, busy, busy - then a lull. And thank goodness! Because if it stayed as busy as it was in May Maureen says that she'd lose her balance.
You might be interested to note that since January 1, 2008, we've had students from 14 states, including Alabama, Florida, Louisianna, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, New York, New Hampshire, California, Tennesee, North Carolina and Maryland. Most of the classes have been small classes, so there has been time to get to know the student a bit. And that's really our favorite part of this whole business. You.
Maureen is still uploading class photos, but if you'd like to peek into Katherine Dewey's Ultimate Mouse class, or into last year's Barb Kobe or Christi Friesen classes, click here: Class Photos
Still uploading photos from Annie Wahl's one-day and Maureen's class in Phoenix and ... (Now where'd that balance go?). |

Who Cares, Anyway?
Do you ever wonder if anyone would notice, or even care, if you stopped making art? What with all the important things in life like making a living and feeding the family and cleaning the house and mowing the lawn and paying bills and getting an education, would it matter if you just quit this art thing? Who would care, anyway?
I don't know about you, but I know I wonder about those things sometimes. I wonder just long enough to know that I know - and that I've always known - the answer to the question. Who cares, anyway? I do.
Art making, for me, is a meditation, a visual journal, a focus on the present moment that leaves me feeling alive and aware. For me it isn't so much about WHAT it is that I make as it is about the process of making it. Immersing myself in the colors and textures and forms of clay and paint and fabric and fibers makes me feel connected to myself, the myself that's whole and true and real.
Once connected I can then get back to making a living and feeding the family and cleaning the house and mowing the lawn and paying bills and getting an education because things are in order in my world. And, in spite of how it might seem on the surface, I know that all is well.
