Playtime, Anyone?
"When we "pretend" we can do something, and
then go ahead and give it a whirl, it isn't long before we can actually do it!
It's like magic! Play releases confidence, and real confidence is a door that no
one can lock shut.
There are no failings when we play. There are no expectations
- no disappointments - no mistakes that can't be fixed - nothing broken that
can't be used for something else - when we play! The outcome is always good when
we do it just for play! SO LET'S PLAY!" Maureen Martin
The above quote is from a delightful leprechaun of sorts that I met at the November 2007 open house at Maureen's. Or perhaps it was a very enthusiastic fairy masquerading as a shopkeeper, artist and a teacher. I'm not sure. What I do know is that Maureen Martin, who came to visit from Illinois, carries a pot of gold within her. It's magic is in her smile. It's in her wit, and very much within her joyful can-do attitude.
Maureen came to Maureen's (see how the smiles just happen?)to see how we did things, as she was thinking of opening a fairy store in Michigan. It turns out that I'm the one who ended up learning from her as she shared with me her current playful fashion business in Illinois, and her dreams for a gathering place for lovers of all things faerie in Michigan. I was enthralled.
Now you have a chance to play with Maureen Martin for a retreat weekend at Maureen's:
THE "PLAY-SHOP" FASHION GETAWAY! 6:00 PM on Friday, April 4, until noon on Sunday, April 6 See our website for more details.
If you have ever played "dress-up,"
dreamed of being a fashion designer, wore clothes with an artsy flair, had tea
parties, or imagined yourself creating an entire ensemble for you to wear, this
weekend is for you!
and if you can't make it to the weekend event, do take some time to play in the very near future. Who knows, that might just be a leprechaun near by to help make it happen!
