Maureen will be on-the-road in 2008, including a week in Baltimore, Maryland
Cabin Fever Clay Festival Baltimore, Maryland, USA
17 - 20 February, 2008
Registration still open!
There will be 8 instructors, including Maureen, who will be teaching a Tool Troll class (pictured).
And it leads up to the NPCG Synergy Conference: National Polymer Clay Guild , which is February 21 - 23, 2007. Plus, here's a real bonus, the Synergy Conference will be in the same hotel, at the same time as the ACC Baltimore Show. Terrific! |
Winter in the Garden at Maureen's
This time of year it's pretty quiet in the garden at Maureen's. The last regular class of the 2007 schedule was in early November, and we're only open to the public on Fridays, so most days it's just me (Maureen) here in the building on Water Street in Jordan, Minnesota. Dan works out of our home office in Prior Lake.
I'm never alone, though, as I can look out the back windows onto the now frozen Sand Creek and see the squirrels hoarding nuts and the rabbits making tracks through the snow. And I can track the height of the new snow by how it piles up on the polymer clay mushroom which never quite got put away for winter. By its appearance in the photo, above, the fairies seem to be enjoying its company, too!
During this quiet time I begin to catch up on my own creative commitments. Since the class season ended I have sculpted 10 new pieces for license to Abbey Press, organized items for display at the Fireroast Mountain Cafe in Minneapolis, done four days of private classes, spent two days sharing the joys of Storyclay Telling with 4th graders, and started the process of listing and describing the new classes for 2008. It has been glorious!!!!!
Not that I don't love it when we're busy welcoming guests and checking in students and giving tours, but I'm a person who needs quiet, alone time to keep my head, heart and hands in good working order. I need time to imagine, to play with words and ideas, and to just breathe in the world around me.
This next week I'll begin uploading some of the class descriptions. The basic calendar is already posted at 2008 Class List . Be sure and check out the June Walking Stick class. I'm excited about it as it combines a terrific project with time to think about where we are going and why. Great fun.
Now, on with the journey that is today ...

| Maureen's Push Molds
We have been getting a lot of inquiries about Maureen's discontinued push molds. It seems that people want more of her molds. So Dan is looking into producing rubber push molds himself. It's quite a process and he is having fun creatively. So who knows? Keep an eye on "What's new" on our web site. Possibly, if everything goes as planned, we will have more push molds for you in the near future. Everyone loves Maureen's clay faces. So the first molds will be new faces by Maureen.
By the way, if you have an idea for a push mold, please email Dan and he'll see what he can do. | |

Judy writes extremely about issues that relate to working artists.
Haunani's Rants and Raves
If you've enjoyed one of Lindly's classes, and her very observant take on the world, check out her blog. Treat yourself to a visit. You can also link to her super color site from the Rants and Rave site. Note that Lindly took an ice-related spill and is recuperating with a broken bone in her back. To send her well wishes, check our her blog and add a comment! |
