A woman, three ministers, a priest, and a rabbi walk into a room. No, it's not a bad joke. It's the makeup of the group who met in Denver 125 years ago to found the now worldwide organization known as United Way.
Despite their differing religious views, these folks figured out that instead of concentrating solely on how much money they could raise, they'd be better able to tackle the key issues in their community if they joined forces.
Founded in 1925 "to harmonize the efforts of civic, charitable and philanthropic organizations for the sake of civic unity and greater efficiency," United Way of Olmsted County will join the national celebration with its own 87 years of making a difference right where we live.
