Operation Starfish

Operation Starfish focuses on job mentoring, job training and work experience. The purpose of this project is to assist youth ages 17 to 21, who are high-risk or gang-involved, to gain work experience, learn expectations of employers, function successfully in the context of the workplace, develop sound work habits, and learn how to set meaningful and achievable goals.

Over a six to eight week period, interns earn a stipend of up to $700, are exposed to various career paths, and access other personal growth opportunities. Upon completion, youth are more likely to make pro-social lifestyle choices, be hopeful and see a more positive future for themselves, have established relationships with a caring adult, and learn important work related skills. Senior Independence Survey

United Way is proactively developing a system for our region to address service needs for the coming growth in aging population. If you are at least 50 years old and live in Olmsted County, United Way wants YOUR opinion!

The United Way Leadership Delegation - Senior Independence project is conducting a survey as one method to get perspective and input from those who may be interested in issues that affect seniors and the ability to live safely at home, even with limited income. The survey should only take 5 minutes. This can be completely anonymous, however if you are interested in the work of the delegation, please provide your contact information at the end of the survey.

If you live in Olmsted County and are at least 50 years old or know someone that lives in Olmsted County and is at least 50 years please take this survey - survey link
