Child Care Resource and Referral

Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) kicked off their United Way campaign at an ALL STAFF MEETING on October 14th. The United Way campaign team of Marlene Jehnke, Dawn Eckhoff, Sheila Peloquin and Julie Buresch involved their co-workers in a game called "KNOW YOUR AGENCY."
Questions were presented on a large screen and participants called out the answers. Questions ranged from "What is our mission statement?", "What was Patrick Gannon's previous career?" to "Name one way you can give to the United Way?". The lively audience members were rewarded with small gifts that were tossed into the crowd.
The team also read the Ogre Story from the United Way website. They shared that the United Way dollars help "get to the root cause" of the problem. We need to keep the babies out of the river!
After one week, the campaign ended with an afternoon dessert pot luck and drawings for gift cards and prizes. The most valued prizes were the certificates for the "reserved parking spot of your choice" - one for the month of January and one for the month of February!

CCRR ended their campaign at 101% of their $7,000 goal - at $ 7075.57, with 57% of staff giving. | |

Got Standards? So Does United Way of Olmsted County!
Everyone has standards. Whether you are buying a car or choosing a college to attend, you have standards that you consider acceptable for your life.
Did you know there are also standards for charities that measure their performance? And United Way of Olmsted County has once again earned the SMART GIVERS Standard from the Charities Review Council.
"We need to treat our giving practices just as we would as a consumer of any product. The Charities Review Council is equivalent to "Consumer Reports" - they do the research work for us on the health and stability of an organization, and we are then able to compare and contrast what organizations best fit our standards." Shelly, a donor.
