US Bank Blitzs Olmsted County
| |
What is the number one reason people give us for not participating with United Way as a donor, "I wasn't asked."
Thanks to US Bank and 20 US Bank officers, 184 businesses in Olmsted County got BLITZED or asked to donate to United Way.

Thank you US Bank for allowing your officers to help with the 2011 United Way Business Blitz campaign.

Open Designation
As a service to donors, United Way of Olmsted County has been an Open Designation United Way since 1992.
LGB Research Institute is a nonprofit organization that conducts research in the area of community investment and describes our type of campaign as "a truly 'open' campaign, in which any tax-exempt non-profit is eligible...." While other "expanded" or "employee choice" campaigns restrict your donation to a handful of member charities, the United Way of Olmsted County workplace campaign does not. | |

Community Gang Initiative
Did you know ...1 in every four teenagers drop out of school?
That's why... United Way is committed to connecting over 3,300 local low income youth with a caring adult and the community through out of school programs.
| |
Which means... Studies show that out of school time directly affects youth behavior and academic success. By keeping youth occupied with activities that stimulate their minds, they are engaged and focused while improving social skills and grades.

Virtual Kick Off | |
The Virtual Kick-off, Kicked Off on September 12 with a chance to win a World Famous Bunnie's Coconut Cake from Canadian Honker or a LIVE UNITED Backpack.
Participants were asked to share, "What am I going to do differently this year to make difference right where I live and create a better community for all?"
And the winners are:
Bunnie Cake - Janis MIller - I will volunteer at my daughter's school, on my days off. There is not enough staff support for teachers. An extra hand in the classroom makes all the difference for children and their education.
Backpack - Jeff Burns - I am going to give up my afternoon treat and donate the money to United Way. Lose weight and make a better world for some one. Win! Win! |

We all have a stake in creating a prosperous, healthy community.
For a building to be stable for the long term, it needs a solid foundation. The same is true in life, and the building blocks for a solid life are a good education, financial stability and good health.
Education: Ensuring children are ready to learn and motivated to stay in school and graduate means contributing citizens for tomorrow.
Income: Many are walking a financial tightrope, as a community we can broaden the tightrope into a path making it less likely people will fall.
Health: Access to healthcare helps strengthen our entire community.
It takes an entire community to make a difference and we need YOU!
