Collaborators on the Roof

Getting a new Roof

On Saturday, March 7, two churches and a great bunch of people from the Movius Corporation mounted a roof to tear off and replace it in one day. It was a long day, a little short on volunteers but everyone was good natured and cooperative. The project was hampered with too large a budget for Friends of Gwinnett Senior Citizens, which helps fund some projects. Then CRS Supply came to the rescue. As hard as things are for companies in the construction industry, CRS donated shingles for about half of the project. They had some "possibly" mis-matched shingles from a different plant than usual and donated them. Well, with one batch on the front and the other on the back, even if they didn't match (we couldn't see any difference) no one would ever know. Thanks to God and CRS, Mrs. Miller now has the new architectural shingles on her roof. Very Snazzy! We prayed for her multiple times as she was recently diagnosed with diabetes and is struggling with that.

It really makes me appreciate the heart for service some people have when it comes to helping others. We pray that Christ was represented well to both Mrs. Miller and to the volunteers not from churches as we worked together in great harmony. Would you pray that it will always be so and that we get the volunteers needed for projects all over the metro-Atlanta area. Thanks especially to Sonny Bettis from Sugarloaf United Methodist who co-led the group with me. He is a nearly full-time volunteer with various agencies such as Gwinnett Seniors Services and Habitat for Humanity. Also thanks to Habitat of Gwinnett for letting us use their big dumpster for the old roof.

Lawrenceville Gets Some TLC

Some of TLC's young men painting the walls

Trinity Life Church (TLC) has undertaken a ministry to the hungry in Lawrenceville. Recently they signed a lease for a larger facility and a number of different churches from Unite! have come alongside to help with the build-out. It is really cool to see what God is doing there and they will be able to do much more to serve the community. Local churches can commit to preparing and serving meals regularly. TLC's Pastor Dave Brunson is now leading Unite! NE's leadership team. It is a joy to serve with the Body of Christ this way.

Economic Pinch

Has the economic situation wreaked havoc on your future plans? We're feeling the squeeze as well. Would you consider a special gift to HRM to keep the ministry moving forward? Some people's incomes remain steady in spite of the situation. I'm praying that they will help HRM to invest in low income families' needs. Is God calling you to that? We would be more than glad to discuss it with you.
