NEW! - Vietnam Cycle Tours...

Ancient Vietnam

This moderate cycle tour takes you from the bustling capital, Hanoi, to the coastal mecca of Nha Trang. En route: the historic city of Hue, and the breathtaking coastal/mountain Hai Van Pass. Next, Hoi An with its interesting architecture, music and cuisine, and then it's the road less travelled, in the little-visited Quang Ngai province.

We stay in very good resorts and lodges, and cycle many quiet roads.

Beaches and
Highlands

This exciting bike tour lives up to its name! Starting in the seaside resort city of Nha Trang, we head for the ethnically diverse Central Highlands, exploring the countryside. We'll pass through many villages and meet local people. We'll also see the cities of Buon Ma Thuot, famed for its coffee beans, and misty Da Lat.

Then it's back to the coastal jewels of Mui Ne and Loc An. You'll also have time to take in Vietnam's biggest and most exciting city, Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).

Cycling distances are highly flexible according to your preference, and the support vehicle is always available.

A Beautiful Lake Walk In Beautiful Rainforest....

Join us for the Lake Waikaremoana Walk, one of New Zealand's official Great Walks.

Some say it's the best multi-day walking trip in the North Island.

Lake Waikaremoana is deep in the island's largest rainforest, in Te Uruwera National Park. It's famous for its beauty and cultural history, as well as great swimming.

You'll hike around the lake, enjoying secluded beaches, fascinating history, and stunning mountain views whilst enjoying a real Kiwi experience, complete with trampers' hut accommodation, and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of kiwi and morepork calling at night.

World Tourism Day - 27 September

Many countries around the world will mark the United Nations World Tourism day on 27th September, this year's theme being "Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development.

The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai, says "Tourism is leading the way in some of the world's most innovative sustainable energy initiatives. Energy efficient upgrades to aircraft, the shift to renewable fuel for aviation and cruise liners, energy technology solutions in hotels, as well as countless other initiatives are placing tourism at the forefront of the clean energy transformation.

You too can do your part as a traveller, simple things such as switching off the lights in your hotel room and unplugging appliances when not in use can make a huge difference. Save energy and water by taking a shower instead of a bath, or choosing not to have your bed linen and towels changed every day. WTD 2012 is the perfect time to change your energy habits and make a commitment to a brighter energy future.

Antarctica In Our Backyard....

New Zealand's first ever Ice festival gets under way in Christchurch on the 14th of September.

This brand new biennial festival is set to become one of the biggest events on the New Zealand festival calendar. For the month of the festival the city's Hagley Park Events Village will be transformed into an Ice Station with hovercrafts and Hagglunds, an ice skating rink, and lecture venue for researchers and scientific experts.

The festival celebrates the Antarctica-New Zealand relationship and Christchurch's 100 year history of being an Antarctic gateway, reflects on the journeys of the early Antarctic explorers and considers issues such as climate change and the protection of the unique Antarctic environment.

Spring Is In The Air....

The first of September marks the start of spring in the Southern Hemisphere and the start of the pollen and hayfever season.

If you are a sufferer of hay fever it can really take the fun out of your outdoor activities. Aside from the range of antihistamines and nasal sprays available there are several natural remedies and a few tips worth considering.

Camomile - Camomile teabags can help in two ways. Not only can you drink it to ease an irritated throat but why not soak a couple in water and let them cool before putting them on your eyes to soothe itchy irritated eyes.

Eucalyptus - Pop some eucalyptus on a tissue and inhale slowly to open up your sinuses.

Wear sunglasses - Sunglasses are the best distraction for hay fever and block most of the pollen out of your eyes.

Vaseline - A bit of Vaseline, or petroleum jelly, around your eyes and nose will help to trap the pollen from reaching the at-risk areas.

Carry wet wipes and refresh your hands and face regularly - To wash away any pollen and cool yourself down. As with any allergy, itching and rubbing will only make it ten times worse.

Book a Tour with Tuatara Tours - Nothing enlivens the spirit more than new experiences, great company and good food.

Dance Away Disease....

The Body Festival, Christchurch's annual festival of dance and physical theatre 21 September- 14 October, is a showcase and celebration of New Zealand's dancing talent. Ranging from professional shows to amateur productions, the festival covers a variety of enjoyment for all audiences and participators.

A study led by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, found that frequent dancing offers protection against dementia in the over 75's. Dancing increases mental agility, physical coordination, gets the heart pumping, produces endorphins and keeps you young as well as being great fun and very social.

Get those dancing shoes on at a venue near you, most towns and cities have classes available for adults in ballet, tap, ballroom and contemporary dance.
