NUEVA LUZ Wins a 2009 IPPIES AWARD!
|
Nueva Luz is a proud recipient of the NY Community Media Alliance's
2009 Ippies Awards! The Ippies is the only award in NYC that honors reporting by ethnic and community press. 1st Place, Best Photo Essay: Rania Matar, for The Forgotten People series ( Nueva Luz vol 13#3), portraying the dignity, and hope of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. 2nd Place, Best Photo Essay:Chuy Benitez for his Houston Cultura series ( Nueva Luz vol 13#3), highlighting the change in Houston's population as Latino and Mexican Americans become the city's new majority.
Rania's work is also featured this month in Of Note magazine!

En Foco, in collaboration with Michael Mazzeo Gallery, invites you to our Holiday Fiesta -- a cocktail party and celebration of artists!
- View works by select artists from the gallery's "Arbor" exhibition, as well as select En Foco artists;
- Buy a door prize ticket to win an original print from En Foco's Print Collectors Program;
- Shop for unique gifts for the holidays: original prints priced up to $50 by
Muema Lombe, Helena de Vengoechea, Lola Flash, Anjali Bhargava, Rojelio
Reyes Rodriguez, Enid Alvarez, Marisol D�az, Miriam Romais, Frank
Gimpaya; and signed books by Deborah Wilis, Rania Matar;
- And most importantly, a chance to enjoy each others company. After
