BRIO Individual Artist Grant

In its 20th year, BRIO (Bronx Recognizes Its Own) continues to provide support for artistic development of individuals creating works of literary, media, performing, and visual arts in the Bronx. A minimum of 25 BRIO grants of $3,000 each will be awarded to individual artists residing in the Bronx.

NoMAA, in conjunction with Kimberly-Clark and Univision Radio, joined the Kleenex brand to look for aspiring artists to help Kleenex celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in 2009.

Three Grand Prize winners will each receive $5,000 and may have their original designs featured on Kleenex upright boxes that will be available in stores nationwide, in September and October.  Nine finalists will each receive $500.

FOTOFEST 2010

DEADLINE: February 9

FotoFest is accepting submissions for exhibitions at participating spaces. This includes over 100 non-profit, commercial, artist run, corporate, retail and, restaurant galleries. A sample of the venues can be seen on the FOTOFEST2008 Participating Spaces page.

FotoFest will post and maintain FOTOFEST2010 Submission web pages for submitting artists' work, CV, exhibition requirements, and space preferences. Participating Spaces will be made aware of the website and have the opportunity to review artists' submissions. Only Participating Spaces will be able to view these web pages

The Mind's Eye

 
DEADLINE: February 17

The Center for Fine Art Photography invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate in its exhibitions. Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental and mixed techniques are welcome.

Theme: The camera is the photographer's medium to express his observations and interactions in response to the world in which he lives, in the way he wishes to portray it. The images selected for this exhibition will provide viewers with exciting opportunities to see what is reflected from the eye of the photographer. There are no subject restrictions for this exhibition.

Heresies, by Pedro Meyer

Photographer Pedro Meyer (Nueva Luz Mentor Issue 11#3), is on view at El Museo Del Barrio and other museums throughout the country. At El Museo, the exhibition is open on Saturdays and can be seen by guided tour only, extended through June 30.

En Foco is a non-profit organization that nurtures and supports contemporary fine art and documentary photographers of diverse cultures, primarily U.S. residents of Latino, African and Asian heritage, and Native Peoples of the Americas and the Pacific. Founded in 1974, En Foco makes their work visible to the art world, yet remains accessible to under-serviced communities. Through exhibitions, workshops, events and publications, it provides professional recognition, honoraria and assistance to photographers as they grow into different stages of their careers.
