5H Community Read Kick Off

Join the communities of Chelsea, Dexter, Stockbridge, Grass Lake, and Stockbridge and read Michael Pollan's In Defense of Food. Our kickoff will feature live music from Rap for Food, a local hip-hop act which performs songs about growing your own food. The event will feature a presentation by food luminary Kim Bayer, a freelance writer whose stories are featured in annarbor.com, Ann Arbor Chronicle, and the Heritage Newspapers. Kids, 12 and under, can try fascinating foods, make sculptures and artwork out of fruits and vegetables, and try to guess food by touch or smell. Bring your whole family to the kickoff, pick up your copy of In Defense of Food, sample delicious food, and take part as members from all five healthy communities gather together to promote health and wellness.
