I Geek Tattoo Art

For me, tattoos are a piece of artwork, like a painting.  However, rather than them being framed, they are on me...I am the canvas.   I like tattoos because they are creative and colorful, just like me!  Tattoo art is a way for me to express my love and loyalty to my friends and family.  For example, the tattoo in my photo is two peas in a pod, which symbolizes my husband and me.  He has a matching pea pod tattoo. 

 

Another thing I like about tattoo art, is that it can be seen on people young and old, from all walks of life...doctors, lawyers, teachers, athletes, hair dressers, and more.  I am a working mom of four, and I even have tattoo art to show my devotion to my children.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Without willing donors, the American Red Cross could not meet the blood needs at southeastern Michigan hospitals. A blood drive will be held at the Library on Thursday, August 30 from 1-7pm. Go to giveblood.org and enter the sponsor code chelsealibrary. 

Questions? The American Red Cross website has information that will help you to understand every part of the donation process.

  

The need is constant. The gratification is instant. Give blood.

Find people in your community and start a conversation. Talk to your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers and people influential in your community.

  

Talk about your library to:

  • Local government representatives/officials
    • City council members
    • The mayor
    • City department heads
    • Other community officials and representatives  
  • County government representatives  
  • State government
    representatives/officials (including the governor, members of the state legislatures and congress, state department heads)  
  • Federal government representatives /officials (including your members of the Senate and Congress)  
  • Neighbors  
  • Co-workers  
  • Your local librarians and library board members  
  • Business owners and business leaders  
  • Friends of the Library group or other library support groups  
  • Library board/library board members

  • Community leadership organizations

Everyone in your community benefits from the services of your public library. Start a conversation about what matters most to you and your community. Then send a letter or e-mail, make a call, or write an article and send it to the editor of your local paper. Share what your community 'geeks' and remind people that the library supports everyone's passions.

This presentation by the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association is an introduction to photovoltaic (PV) systems and will provide an overview for homeowners considering the purchase of a PV system. The session will include benefits and economics, a review of the technology, proper location of a PV system and financial and technical resources.
