I Geek Arthropods

My name is Emily Torrance, and I geek Arthropods because ... Wait a minute, I should tell you what they are first, right? Arthropods are a diverse phylum which includes spiders, ticks, insects, crustaceans (rollie pollies, crabs, and lobsters), millipedes, and centipedes.
I geek arthropods because they are so complex in their body parts, life stages, and life styles. I also geek them because there are more things yet to discover about them because although there are already roughly 1,137,900 species known, there may be billions more to be discovered. And I am ready to discover them!
All of my own personal pets are arthropods, and I name them after the place where I get them. Jackson (the one in the picture) is a male Madagascan Hissing Cockroach......

Paint Chelsea Pink
What is Paint Chelsea Pink?
Chelsea Area Fire Authority and Chelsea business owners are teaming up to raise funds to support the fight against breast cancer. This is the first annual event where attendees purchase the Paint Chelsea Pink event passport for $25; a tax deductible donation in support of Susan G. Komen Mid-Michigan.
Passport holders receive full benefits of the day's activities including merchant promotions, entry into various prize drawings, and a post-event party. Visit participating Chelsea businesses to get your passport punched. Passport holders will be entered to win fabulous prizes based on their number of passport punches!
When is the Event?
Saturday, September 29th, 2012 |10am to 6pm
After a day of fabulous festivities and shopping, passport holders will come together to celebrate our collective impact with A PINK PARTY in the Chelsea Lanes parking lot featuring prize drawings, live music, and beer tent.
Where Does the Event Take Place?
The event will take place throughout Chelsea, with shuttle service between some locations.
How Can I Participate?
Purchase event passports by contacting Chelsea Area Fire Authority (734.475.8755) or online via the official event website www.paintchelseapink.org.
