Spend Your Holiday with a Great Book

Books and Authors

Need help deciding what to read next? Then the  Books & Authors web site is for you!

This online resource brings together more than 146,000 titles recommended by librarians and other literary experts, and includes many award-winning and best-selling titles in both fiction and non-fiction selections.

The site has many options for finding the materials you are interested in locating. You can search by Author, Title or Series, as well as by the keyword search function, or you can browse the offerings by Genre, Author and even Story Type. Many people enjoy the "Who? What? When? Where?" feature which allows you to enter character descriptions, subjects, time periods and other settings to locate titles based on your particular interests.

Books & Authors also provides a "Read Alike" feature that can show items similar to your other items of interest, and even allows a "Personal Reading Room" once you create an account on their site. (The account is free... You just provide a username, password and email address.) In the Reading Room you can create lists, write reviews and even recommend titles to other users.

We highly recommend that you give Books & Authors a test drive! If you have questions, you may always contact the library staff at 734-475-8732, option 3.

You can also find many other online resources provided by the Chelsea District Library, including Books & Authors, listed on our Online Resources web page. The Books & Authors service is provided to us by the Michigan eLibrary and Proquest.
