Take Stock of Home Energy Use Before Winter
Now is a great time to take stock of your home energy use with two types of energy meters you can borrow from our collection. The Kill A Watt is a device you plug into an outlet and plug your appliance into in order to measure how much energy the appliance uses when it is in action as well as at rest. A large LCD display will count consumption by the Killowatt-hour, the same as your local utility company, so you can calculate your electrical expenses by the day, week, month or year. Black & Decker's Thermal Leak Detector helps reduce energy costs by finding energy leaks in your home. Instantly identify problem areas around drafty windows and doors, and uncover hidden leaks and insulation "soft spots" around electrical outlets, recessed lights, and along floor molding.
Each can be checked out for 14 days, with two renewals. You can find them on the 2nd level in the New Nonfiction Books section. | | Save Energy and Money with a Kill-a-Watt |
