Forum on Tolerance to be Held at Library
Monday, January 17 | McKune Room

Differences without Divisions: Islam in America, a forum on tolerance of religious diversity, is planned for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 17 and will take place at the Library. Though the Library will be closed for business, the McKune Room will be open for the forum. A Young People's Forum will take place at 1:00pm and an Adult Forum at 7:00pm. - Contemporary issues for Muslims living in America
- A place for Muslims in the world today
- American media representations of Islam and its practitioners
- The role of women in Islam
- Islam and humanitarian service
- The future of Islam and its role in America and the world

Save a Life @ Your Library

According to the American Red Cross, every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. Frequent transfusions are needed to keep chemotherapy patients and sickle cell anemia sufferers alive, and one car accident victim may require as many as 100 pints of blood-the combined effort of more than 33 donors. The Red Cross will be in the McKune Room on Tuesday, January 4 from 1:00 - 7:00pm. If you are healthy (feeling well, able to perform normal tasks, and have any chronic conditions treated and under control), at least 17 years old and 110 lbs or more, then we need your help.

Friends Book Sale
Saturday, January 8 | 10:00am-3:00pm | McKune Room
 Thousands of beautiful books, CDs, DVDs, audio books and other items are available for purchase. Proceeds from the sales are used to support the Library. Stop by the Friendly Book Cart, always available in the lobby for a great selection of "like-new" books at bargain prices.

Music @ McKune Kicks off w/ Alberta Adams

 Keep warm on cold winter afternoons with hot music from Alberta Adams - the undisputed Queen of the Detroit blues scene. At 93 years old, she's a living legend. Her performance will be backed by the RJ Spangler Trio. No registration necessary, just drop-in!

The Chelsea District Library is nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide equal access to quality resources that serve the lifelong cultural, educational and informational needs and interests of all people. The Library currently serves 14,000 residents in the Chelsea district - City of Chelsea plus Dexter, Lima, Lyndon and Sylvan townships and more than 20,000 individuals visit the Library each month. The Library's state-of-the-art facility is an access point for information including: books, periodicals, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, downloadable e-books, subscription databases as well as access to the Internet.
