I hope everyone is enjoying the summer - or the winter, for those down under! While the World Cup comes to a close, at SNAPPS, Turtle Partnership, BE Systems, Connectria, and Epilio, we are hard at work preparing for the 11th and 12th Collaboration University conferences for Lotus Sametime and Quickr. This great little conference has had such an impact on the skills of so many people that we often hear back months - and even years - from attendees, with success stories linking back to what they learned from our experts.
So much changes in a year. Sametime 8.5 shipped, Quickr 8.5 for J2EE shipped and we're fully expecting that Quickr 8.5 Domino will ship soon. So we'll be covering all new materials - widgets, new Dojo methods, lists, metadata, new administration concepts, upgrade strategies, cross-product integration, and features even beta participants haven't seen yet!
What is Collaboration University? If you're new to this mailing (Rob Novak's newsletter and Collaboration University - I promise it's very infrequent and focused, never bought and never shared, and one-click unsubscribe...), Collaboration University is an
intense 2 1/2 day learning experience where your instructors -
independent IBM Lotus business partner experts doing this without sponsor support - share their
years of experience with you in a fast-paced but very accessible
manner.
We're approaching the early registration deadline, which I purposefully did not set in advance. Why? We wanted to see how registration tracked compared to last year - a year marked by a very tight economy and training cuts. Well the good news is, registration is up and tracking a month ahead! So for the best price, register by midnight Central Daylight Time US this Sunday, July 4th. If you've never been to Collaboration University, this is the perfect time (and price) to invest in your skills. If you're a returning CU alumni, welcome back! And, you can once again take $50 off for each year you've attended - up to another $200. We already have two "fourth year" attendees coming, so you can be assured that we will provide value year after year.
What's new? We listened to past attendees - especially some of you who have been with us for three or four years - and have made some changes based on your feedback. In 2010, we will of course spend significant time on the latest versions (Sametime 8.5 and Quickr 8.5) but also add new cross-product and collaboration strategy sessions appropriate for management. And, the agenda will be influenced by the early registrants who access the Collaboration University Campus, an online (take a guess!) Quickr and Sametime environment where we will collaborate on topics, share the latest version news, and take your ideas and questions in advance.
After the conference, you remain Collaboration University alumni for life. In 2011 when we produce webinars with code examples and recordings, you'll have free access to them. And, you can continue to participate in the Campus as long as you like. Here's the math - if you register by Sunday, are a long-time alumni, and attend the webinars, you can save $697 USD.
So - to the business of registration! Some important things to note are the dates and locations...and we're all backwards this year. That's right, London goes before Chicago for the first time ever. Here are the dates and locations, and of course you can get much more information on the Collaboration University website:
London: Tues-Thurs, September 21-23, IBM South Bank Chicago: Mon-Weds, September 27-29, IBM Innovation Center
Thank you, and I hope to see you in London or Chicago (wow it feels strange to say them in that order). Again, here's the link to the Collaboration University website.
Best always,

Rob Novak Producer, Collaboration University President, SNAPPS Twitter: @CollabU and @LotusRockStar
Note: I respect your privacy and never share email addresses. You've noticed that I hardly ever do email you. That said, you may unsubscribe with one click below. If you do, you will no longer receive email from Collaboration University, nor Rob Novak's newsletters or articles on Lotus Quickr, Sametime and other collaboration technologies. I do realize that some of you register with multiple email addresses, so please feel free to opt out of one, it won't hurt my feelings...Thank you!
