Center for Preventive Action United Nations Roundtable Series
The UN Roundtable meeting series seeks to organize high-level discussions with senior UN officials, including officials from member states and regional organizations, on timely issues related to conflict prevention, peacekeeping, and international security. A core group of selected invitees from member state governments, the private sector, and nongovernmental communities will participate in these discussions. The goal of these not-for-attribution meetings is to raise awareness of the role of the UN in addressing critical issues of peace and security. The UN Roundtable meeting series is cosponsored by the Center for Preventive Action and the Program on International Institutions and Global Governance.
The UN Roudtable will discuss escalating issues such as the earthquake & tsunami relief efforts in Japan and the possible containment of the radioactivity that threatens the planet. Dr. Sandra Rose Michael, PhD, DNM, DCSJ will be presenting critical research that shows how Bio-Scalar Technology can mitigate and transmute the harmful effects of radiation and other detrimental fields.

Background:
The 2008-2010 Georgia-Russia crisis is a current and ongoing international crisis between Georgia and Russia that escalated in 2008, when both countries accused each other of military buildup near the separatist regions Abkhazia and South Ossetia. On March 6, 2008 Russia announced that it would no longer participate in the Commonwealth of Independent States economic sanctions imposed on Abkhazia in 1996.[1]
Increasing tensions led to the outbreak of the 2008 South Ossetia war. After the war, a number of incidents have occurred in both conflict zones, and tensions between the belligerents remain high. Due to the devasting loss of life and resulting economic challenges, these incidents have left thousands of children either orphaned or abandoned.
Figures that estimate the number of abandoned/homeless children in Russia are somewhat unreliable. The Russian Children's Fund estimated in 2001 that there were some 2.5 million homeless children, although other estimates reached as high as 4 million.
With that being said, another report indicates that 9 out of 10 of these orphaned/abandoned children will end up in crime or prostitution leading to imprisonment.
Most Russian orphans would be in foster homes if they were in America. There is no developed foster home system in Russia. Although placing a child in an orphanage costs the government more than placing a child in a foster home in Russia, the government has been slow in encouraging the development of foster homes.
Conditions in orphanages vary greatly. Most do not have adequate plumbing or physical facilities. Children live in crowded quarters and many personal items and clothing items are in short supply. Many orphanages do not have bathing or shower facilities for the children, and many do not have washing machines to wash the children's clothing. Food is usually adequate, but fruit is usually a rare treat for the children.
Although the living conditions for the orphans in Russia may need improving, the real tragedy for Russian orphans is that they live in a protected and very regimented environment for 15 or 16 years, and then "graduate" into a world where they have little chance of succeeding. The system is indeed setting them up for failure.

Clad in jeans and cowboy boots, musician John "JB" Bell reclined in a green fabric and metal chair on a Saturday morning, surrounded by 16 computers sitting on shelves about a foot from the ceiling. The computer screens glowed blue behind multicolored static, generating so much heat air-conditioning was needed to cool the room.
Mr. Bell, 49, said he spends a few hours every night and day he's home in this "energy room," working on lyrics, reading, thinking or sleeping. He says the energy generated by the computers creates an "uplifting vibe very similar to the feeling when the band improvises into new territory, and the audience seems to be right there alongside you." His wife Laura, 48, said, "We joke it's the new way of catching a buzz."
The energy room is just one of the alternative treatments at the home of Mr. Bell, who for more than two decades has been the lead singer and guitarist for Southern rock jam band Widespread Panic. For about half the year Mr. Bell is on the road, playing drawn-out concerts and jamming late into the night. It's a frenetic life, one he seeks to balance at his 1912 white Colonial that he's also turned into a holistic wellness center in a tiny mountain town.
