Greetings!

I stood on the stage of the Lyceum Theatre, looked into the bright lights and spoke to 400 people because of the power of stories--- the power of women's stories in particular.

Last Monday night the Speak for Success Women's Leadership Institute was the beneficiary of a staged reading of The Vagina Monologues, a fundraiser and awareness-raiser.

We were inspired, tickled, and enraged. We felt just about every emotion imaginable because of the clarity in which the stories were written and told.

What is the story that you want to tell? What are the emotions that you want your audiences to feel when listening to you?

To move people to take action---whether they are your employees or your customers, they've got to feel something.

This month, I share How to Inspire a great article by my associate, Chris Witt whose book Real Leaders Don't Do PowerPoint has just been released. Go out and buy the book!

And, to see the Fox News Story on the success of our Women's Leadership Institute please check below.

Here's to your success!

How to Inspire

By Chris Witt

"May you live in interesting times" is said to be a Chinese curse, in spite of the lack of evidence to substantiate the claim.

Still, you have to admit we are living in interesting times, which can feel like a curse. Or not, depending on your temperament and frame of mind.

What we need are leaders who can give us not only a way through these interesting times, but a reason for hope and for continued effort. What we need are leaders who inspire us.

And we need (even if we don't have the title or the position of leader) to be the type of leader -- at work, in our communities, at home -- who inspires.

I'm not asking you to act like an adolescent cheerleader. You don't have to jump up and down excitedly, thump your chest, and passionately proclaim slogans from a Successories motivational poster.

The best way to inspire people is to be yourself, your best self, and to engage their deepest values and most authentic emotions.

To inspire people, try this: 1. Be a continued here

Thank you and Fox News Story

Thank you to my Speak for Success clients, participants, and instructors who volunteered, attended, and helped us raise money for the next Women's Leadership Institute program for domestic violence survivors.

Fox 5 News San Diego did a wonderful story on Lana Zakary Culliver one of our graduates and interviewed Liv Kellgren our director and me. To see the interview click here and type in "fighting back" in the search box. The story is called Fighting Back Against Domestic Violence.

Thank you to Jay Jones and Leslie Marcus of Fox5 Morning News!
