Greetings!
Are you caught up in the back to school
spirit? As adults, we've gone through so many
years of back to school. But what does it really
mean in our professional world of work?
A colleague suggested that we think
of this fall time as a time for us to
continue our learning. I know that the
participants in our Speak for Success
programs have done just that.
If it's been a while since you engaged in a
learning activity, I encourage you to find
something that you'd enjoy learning and go
back to school. There are classes everywhere;
at local colleges, adult education, your
company's learning center, and also private
settings.
I believe that learning new knowledge and
skills keeps us interested in, and open to
new ideas and experiences, and more
interesting to others!
Here's to your success! Dana Bristol-Smith

Is It All About You?
|

Dana Bristol-Smith
Shawn is a very creative and industrious guy
who gets interested in something and dives in
completely. He took up running a while back;
next thing we know he's training for a
marathon! Shawn recently sent me a short film
he wrote, directed, and starred in called
A Movie About Me.
As the film starts, we hear Shawn's voice but
we don't see him. We then see "Eric" who
turns out to be Shawn dressed up in a wig and
sunglasses talking about Shawn. Throughout
the film, Shawn plays five different
characters.
What is so funny is that we never see the
real Shawn's face during the whole film. We
see the back of his head, we hear his voice,
then at the very end he has his girlfriend
Kristine (Shawn in a long blond wig, makeup,
etc.,) hold the camera so Shawn can speak to
us. However, Kristine screws it up and all we
see is a blur. Then the movie ends.
What does this strange home movie have to
do with giving a presentation? Continued
here.

An Embarrassing Confession

I have a fondness for strange looking,
multi-colored characters. These characters
are pretty well known, you might say even
famous. Here's my confession.
