Computer Aided Drafting Program

Drafting is an intensive program emphasizing the development of manual and computer (CAD) drafting skills. The mission of this program is to equip graduates with the skills to create working drawings using both AutoCAD and SolidWorks to expected industry standards. In addition, graduates will be able to produce 2-D drawings and 3-D models for import into computer assisted manufacturing (CAM) software for computer numerical control (CNC) machining program generation.

Graduates will have the skills necessary to create working drawings of parts and machines, either manually or using a CAD program. They will have a working hands-on knowledge of the machining process from the creation of machine components from raw stock to quality control inspection using the ANSI standard for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Should students decide to continue their education in the pursuit of an A.A.S. degree in technology, all of these courses apply directly to the A.A.S. degree programs in Mechanical Technology: CAD Design, Manufacturing, and Machine Tool Technology.

That Makes Five Female All-Americans!Athletics

2011-2012 proved to be a banner year for Red Barons Women's Athletics with a total of five selected for All-American honors. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their All-American teams which included two Red Barons.

Bridgette Sutryk Sophomore Bridgette Sutryk (Addison, NY), was named to the NJCAA 2nd team, establishing her as one of the top three catchers in the nation at the NJCAA Division 3 level. Bridgette is the 18th CCC softball player to earn NJCAA All-America honors in the past fifteen seasons.

During a key time of the season when Corning had lost two of its starters, Bridgette showed her true leadership by floating at various positions where and when needed. Her versatility and consistency at the plate is a significant reason the Red Barons went on a 18-2 run to end the regular season and clinch a Final Four spot in the play-offs. She left her name scattered throughout the CCC record books for top 5 single season and career categories.

Mollie Peck The NFCA announced the top 16 players with freshman Mollie Peck (Lowman, NY), selected as one of the top six infielders in the nation. This is the 35th NFCA All-American honor CCC softball has captured since the inception of the award in 2001. Mollie moved between 3rd base and shortstop this season, two of the most demanding positions in softball. She concluded the season with an impressive .935 fielding percentage. Mollie's range and strong arm robbed many hitters of base hits this season. She hit .433, collecting 55 hits, 42 runs, 13 doubles and a team-high 47 RBI's. She recorded a .693 slugging percentage and a .460 on-base percentage.

Heather Reynolds Bridgette and Mollie capped off a year that saw a record-setting number of CCC female athletes earning All-American awards. CCC had five females named to All-American teams in their respective sports. Basketball player Heather Reynolds (Painted Post, NY), was named to the NJCAA 2nd team All-American after being selected as the 2011-2012 Region III Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Heather led the Red Barons to an 18-11 overall record and a 9-3 Mid State Athletic Conference (MSAC) record and runners-up finish. She led the team in scoring with 20.2 points per game, shot 37.4% from the field, and 28.1% from behind the 3-point arc. Her season average of 77.6% from the free throw line and 142 free throws made are both new CCC records.

Samantha McAtee and Kaylin Grannis The women's bowling team had an outstanding year. Sophomores and high school teammates Samantha McAtee (Horseheads, NY) and Kaylin Grannis (Horseheads, NY), finished their Junior College athletic careers on top. The duo won the NJCAA Women's Bowling Doubles National Championship on March 2 in Buffalo, NY. The program was reinstated two seasons ago after a 25-year hiatus. To say it didn't take long for Coach Paul Andrews and his team to find success is an understatement. Samantha and Kaylin became CCC's first-ever Doubles National Champions. Both were named NJCAA All-Americans for their outstanding performance at the tournament.
