This inaugural issue of TODANews is a significant step towards modernization. The TODA Board is excited to present this as a new means of communicating with members on a more regular basis. We will continue to bring you news and articles from Board members as well as important dates and pertinent information.

The TODA 2011 Convention was a fabulous success! It was wonderful to celebrate our history at the 50th Anniversary. The gala event was especially memorable. Recognizing the past presidents and watching Dr Michael Alexander's presentation brought home how important this organization is to all of us as orchestra directors. TODA brings us together to share ideas, fellowship, and get ready for each school year, and our students benefit.
This last summer Jason Thibodeaux was elected as our new Member at Large. Jason Thibodeaux is the Winston Churchill High School Director of Orchestras. Under his direction, the Churchill Orchestras have won numerous UIL Concert and Sightreading Sweepstakes. Currently they bring 5 orchestras to the UIL Contest. Mr Thibodeaux has conducted the Churchill Orchestra at the Pearl Harbor Memorial in Hawaii, Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Austria Tour of 2010. In January of 2011, the Churchill Symphony performed for the Lila Cockrell Theatre Rededication Ceremony.
