Increasingly we are seeing traditional methods of fundraising being replaced by appeals to and through social networks.  In 2011, the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation launched the Unleashing Generosity Tulsa campaign in collaboration with Network for Good.  Come learn about the intent behind this initiative and its impact to date for the 50 participating nonprofits.  We'll also explore some interesting ways nonprofits are turning to technology to share their stories and build support.  If you have a Twitter-enabled Smartphone, bring it!

Secrets to a Well-Oiled Operation
Christopher M. Cannon, CFRE

Fundraisers must balance dozens of daily priorities.  Operational issues often require more than their fair share of attention, which can diminish time with donors.  How can a busy fundraiser get operational issues under control?  This session will guide fundraisers toward the most efficient strategies to manage data, technology, reporting, and business processes.  You will learn to balance priorities
through discipline, discernment, and delegation.

Upcoming webinars
Thurs., July 12 - Analytics
Wed., July 25 - 6 Steps to a Written Plan

Please note:  We are looking for an AFP member to volunteer as the Web Conference Co-Chair. Contact Susan Garcia if you are interested:  sgarcia@hospiceofgreencountry.org.    |

                    Pam Dose: The Pres Says
The AFP Mini Conference on May 3 was a treat - literally! Tables covered with little packages of M&Ms illustrated the theme of the event. Sandy Rees presented The M&M's of Fundraising - Mission, Mindset, Marketing and Money! Her program gave us nuggets of information useful both to those new to the field and those more experienced. Thank you to Brandi Moore and her dynamic team for providing a day rich with opportunities to network, laugh and learn.     Coming in the fall, Janet Gaskins and Maggie Jewel will launch a new project - Art and Philanthropy! Students from one selected elementary, middle and high school will have the opportunity to produce artwork designed around the theme "A Diverse and Giving Community."  Janet and Maggie are working behind the scenes to solicit funding, identify schools and finalize details.       Please note Thurs., Nov. 15 on your calendar for National Philanthropy Day. Toni McGee and Steffanie Bonner will provide excellent leadership for the NPD Committee but they need our members to help.  Please check out Tish Stuart's article outlining NPD and other committee needs. Our chapter shines because of our active and giving members. Please volunteer today!    Your President, Pam Dose |

 Every Member Campaign

The 2012 Every Member Campaign is underway, with a goal of $2,440! Thanks go to Kerry Hornibrook, Ric Harrison, and Brenda Michael-Haggard, our lead-off donors.

Every gift to EMC furthers AFP's mission to advance ethical and effective fundraising, provides scholarships, funds research, and increases our Chapter's eligibility for an AFP Chapter Partnership grant. Your gift to the AFP Foundation is tax-deductible.

Last year's campaign, led by Lori Long, allowed us to apply for a 2012 Chapter Partnership grant. Blending two focus areas, Youth in Philanthropy and Diversity, we proposed an art contest for selected 5th, 8th, and 11th graders. The theme is a diverse and giving community. The top three works selected from each grade will be displayed at our National Philanthropy Day Luncheon and the artists will each be awarded a cash prize.

Maggie Jewell and I are leading this project. We're expecting it to be positive exposure for our chapter and that the opportunity for self-expression and creativity will expose young artists to the importance of philanthropy. Your Every Member Campaign gift will help make this a success.

Donate Now or you may make your contribution at an upcoming meeting. Thank you for your continued support of our chapter and the AFP Foundation. Please contact me for information. Janet-gaskins@ouhsc.edu
