Greetings!
You may not realize how many times our neighbors call in to tell us how much they appreciate you. It's heart-warming to know that they love you enough to take a moment to tell us about how much you mean to them. We know that you derive enough benefit from serving to keep you coming back for more regardless of what neighbors say or don't say, so we just want to remind you that you're making a huge difference! |

The Form
Nancy, our volunteer who processes your monthly reports, asks that we pass along a few words about what's needed on your Volunteer Log. Here's the quick-and-dirty:
- Write your name at the top - it's most helpful!
- In the "Time" column, note the total amount of time you spent on each service.
- Under "Service Provided," simply note "Transportation" or "Shopping for" or whatever.
- In the "Comments" section, write us a message about anything you think we need to know about the service and the neighbor - we do read these!
- Total your mileage if you'd like to be reimbursed.
Remember, you can access the blank form by clicking the link on the sidebar in this e-newsletter. Then you can hopefully print your own copies. |

Volunteer Recognition Lunch
Please plan on joining your fellow volunteers on Thursday, April 19th, from Noon - 1:30 PM as we celebrate the great work we do together! It'll be a fun time to meet new volunteers and renew old acquaintances.
This year's program will be long on fun and interaction, and perhaps a little short on visiting dignitaries. Our event will again be held at VOCA (Village of Oak Creek Association) - this year with a newly remodeled room and kitchen!
By the way, we're still looking for volunteer entertainment, so please let us know if you have any ideas. More details to follow. |

GAP Update
It's official - they aren't manufacturing our unit any more.
We feel the current manufacturer's suggested replacement unit is too complicated, as is the key chain gizmo necessary to activate it. We're hot on the trail for a replacement.
In the meantime, we're working off inventory returned by neighbors who no longer need their GAP unit. Trouble is, we're running short of heart pendants. So, if you notice any laying about, please grab them! |
|
Volunteer U
We're averaging 4-5 learning sessions each month, with more coming online. Most sessions are facilitated by a volunteer/staff team. The format is open, with lots of great questions and an opportunity to learn more about Verde Valley Caregivers, the service we provide - and our fellow volunteers.
Check the sidebar of this e-newsletter for details, and refer to the website for updates and additions. |

Recruiting
- Business at the Thrift Shop is picking up. Speaking of picking up, we need a crew of volunteers - and their pickup trucks - who are willing to team up to make an occasional pick-up from our generous donors. Since the store is relatively small, we don't take any massive items and would not put any volunteer - or their back - in jeopardy.
- The GAP team is growing - but not fast enough. Nearly three out of every four new neighbors request a GAP unit. No heavy lifting. Training is provided. |

At last year's volunteer recognition event, you said you wanted mileage reimbursement. You got it. You also said you wanted more social events. Let's see what we can do about that request this year. When our volunteers get together, it's always fun!
Sincerely,
Kent Ellsworth, Executive Director Roger Wyer, Volunteer Coordinator |
