Develop YOUR Safe Exercise Program

The time you spend moving your body is a great investment in your health.  The right exercise program can provide an effective and enjoyable way to stay healthy.

Finding the exercise program that aligns your fitness goals, lifestyle and the activities you enjoy will provide weight
control, strengthen your body, improve your fitness level, increase your energy level and improve sleep.  All these benefits of exercising help reduce stress and improve your overall health.

Finding YOUR fitness program starts with an assessment of your current level and the activities you  enjoy.  Begin your program slowly and progress gradually, emphasizing proper technique and stretching to prevent injuries.

Try different activities before settling on any, pick something you enjoy so you will stick with it, and don't be afraid to change it up a bit.

Protecting your ACL

by Proaxis Therapy

The anterior cruciate ligament, better known as the ACL, is a major ligament in the knee aiding in the stability of the joint.   An ACL injury can occur if you get hit very hard on the side of your knee, overextend the knee joint or quickly stop moving and change direction while running, landing from a jump or turning.  Basketball, football, soccer, and skiing are common sports linked to ACL tears.

At the time of an ACL injury, signs and symptoms may include:

  • A loud "pop" sound
  • Severe pain especially when you try to put weight on the injured leg
  • Knee swelling that usually worsens for hours after the injury occur
  • For a mild injury, a feeling of knee instability or "giving way" with weight bearing
Preventing an ACL injury is as simple as improving your technique.  View more information and suggestions from Proaxis Therapy by clicking this link ACL Prevention .
