Take a Good Look at your Skin |
|
Our athletic trainers and physicians are widely known and highly skilled musculoskeletal experts. Their expertise does not end there as our provider team also monitors your overall health, including healthy skin which is an important element to your total health. Problematic skin conditions are common in many sports. Wrestling is a high contact, skin to skin activity. This wrestler to wrestler contact may increase the athlete's exposure to skin infections ranging from contact dermatitis to MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus). Keep your skin healthy by learning more about these and other infections. Read our SKIN INFECTIONS article or ask your Athletic Trainer. |

A Funny Name for a Painful Knee Condition ...
Osgood Schlatter Disease |
|

Osgood Schlatter Disease is an inflammatory disease usually occurring during a period of rapid growth in adolescent patients causing a painful bump on the top of the shin bone. Although it is difficult to prevent this disease, proper warm-up and stretching exercises can be helpful. The discomfort of Osgood Schlatter Disease can be effectively managed by limiting activity to reduce knee stress as soon as painful bump appears along with controlling inflammation through icing and anti-inflammatory medications. Other useful information is found in our website article OSGOOD SCHLATTER DISEASE. |
