Before we start our blog tonight, I want to raise a glass to my father in law. Alex Miller would have been 88 today. He is missed and I wish he were here today to see the wonderful woman his daughter has become, the compassionate grand son Jack has become, and the bright dignified woman his grand daughter Kristin remains. As for me, he would still enjoy arguing about how much taxes he would pay if he won the lotto and why the death tax is a good thing. He is missed by us all. Here is to you Al.
With less than 40 hours left in our two week holiday, we were forced to cram a lot into today. Jack had convinced Devin that he NEEDED to fish one more day and since that activity did not include a trip to Game Stop or playing video games, she supported the decision.
We started the day by packing the Fishwhisperer Mobile with our gear and heading to Joanna's for breakfast. We headed back south to American Fork River, about 20 minutes from the house. Along the way, Jack joined in conversations about flies and nippers and other fishing gear.
We first arrived at the picnic area just south of the Timpanagos Cave hike (I know a few of you have survived that hike with us so you know where we are talking about.) and Dennis became the fishing tutor.

He was great today, not fishing himself, but showing Jack the delicate presentations of "dapping" a fly and catching fish.
After a few explanations, Jack hat caught a cute 5-6 inch trout in a tiny little pool of fast flowing water. Sinsei Dennis continued teaching jack all he know about the small water fishing and jack soaked up every word Dennis was saying.
As the day went we moved to several areas and ended up in a stretch of American Ford below a huge rock fall area. A few yard out of the danger area we found a nice stretch of semi-flat water. Dennis showed Jack the spot. After a few attempts, Dennis tossed the flie to the sweet spot and handed the rod to Jack. WHAM!, Jack had hooked a nice 1 pound plus rainbow trout. He brought it in and landed it and we have pictures. Dennis is credited with an assist.
With Jack's landing of a 1 pound plus fish he is eligible for membership in the Benevolent International Brotherhood of Fishwhisperers. I will be submitting his nomination to the co-founders of the Brotherhood soon. Upon acceptance, he will receive the Fishwhisperer's Hat as recognition into the Brotherhood. (Dana, John K. and Dennis, I am counting on you to vet his applaication.)
After retuning home, we got scrubbed and cleaned up for a nice night at La Caille, a mystical magical place for dining and making dreams come true. (Our daughter's wedding was held their and is an amazing place.) The food was good and their wine list has been kicked up a notch and I found an incredible Cab from Walla Wall valley, WA, Quilcenda Creek 2005. It was smooth and delicious and was a great compliment to my Filet and Lobster. We got home about an hour ago.
With all the merriment of fishing and dinner, I did not go on line to read Barron's. I hope t get to that tomorrow AM. So you are saved tonight my friends. Have a great Sunday.
