We told you that Devin was recovering from knee surgery and Morton's Neuroma in her foot. She did not think she was healing well from the knee surgery and the neuroma was a mighty set back for her to enjoy the hills of Utah. Well as luck would have it, I regret to say her knee is fine and she has her neuroma under control.
That means we went on a typical Devin death march. She chose Snowbird. Now Snowbirds peak is about 42,784 feet, it is pictured below.

We were able to use a chairlift to get most of the way near the top only leaving about 7,400 feet to climb on foot. Unfortunately the chair lift got tangled and I had to climb hand over hand hanging 83 feet from the floor of the tundra covered mountain. Once we arrived at base camp, we began our long journey to the summit.
The air was thin their at 42,700 feet, but I insisted on pushing on. By now Devin was not sure about her knee and foot, but I gave her the support she needed and carried most of the way to the top aggravating a muscle pull I triggered a few weeks ago while moving our treadmill.
Our friends Dennis and Jerene were quite surprised as to the extent of the climb. The altitude started getting to Jerene first as she she most of the day saying, "This is beautiful. What a great day. This is fun.", obviously incoherent to the dangerous we were facing. Dennis too was suffering from dehydration, fatigue and oxygen depravation as he never stopped talking and kept repeating, "Just move slow, one second per step, a hundred yards to go." Over and over again. He was obviously delirious.
Jack was doing well and he was in the best of shape, but kept running ahead of us obviously concerned that we would be stuck in the mountainside and turn cannibal and eat him.
Things got desperate as we made our way back, and I showed the team how to partake of the cool clean mountain waters of Snowbird.

After a few gulps, I noticed Dennis uphill from me relieving himself of a bottle of Aquafina. I will let you know if I contract Giardia or Gonorrhea or one of those other water born diseases.
As we came closer to the chairlifts, I realized I had managed to save everyone, so I hung back to give Dennis the encouragement to make it back to the chairlift station.

Ok I just read that and realized that maybe I exaggerated a bit. Snowbird is not that tall, the chairlifts were a little tricky to get on, Devin did fine, Jack just out walked us. Jerene did enjoy herself and appeared to be quite sane. Dennis, well the verdict is till out, but he survived and lived to talk about it another day. I did struggle because of a back injury form a couple of weeks ago and only complained enough to annoy my lovely wife who was trouper today. She even shared ice cream with me at the end of the trail.
We made it home and cancelled our reservations at the Wedding Place La Caille and enjoyed left over steak cut onion skin thin and sautéed with onions and pepper and we made Philly Steaks sandwiches with attitude. For dessert we used our new Magic Bullet to make juices. Everyone left full and ready for a good night sleep.
So let's get to the stock stuff.
