We finally got a feel for the time off Jack has from school and football and now this week, basketball. He has the next 9 days off (starting Monday). So we decided that we are going to see our place up in Utah. We have been there for 3 brief visits over the last 18 months and one of those was Kristin's wedding, so that does not count.
So next Monday, we will be doing the convoy thing with Jerene riding with Devin and Man Child riding with me and Dennis alone for the 11 hour Journey. It really is not that bad except for the "whose gonna lead" argument that always ensues. She (Devin) likes to follow me, but always says I drive to fast regardless of how fast I am driving. I suggest she lead and she says no I don't want to lead.
The few times she does lead, when she does a lane change and sometimes forgets to reset her cruise control and next thing you know we have people who are changing their tires passing us.
Then there is always the situation when I am in the lead and she races up to pass me at Mach 1.3, which of course is a sign someone in her car is suffering from wee bladder disorder. So we stop.
Now each stop is a process onto itself. For we have at least five dogs with us, as Jerene brings her little baby girl Pheobe. Pheobe is Chi Wawa. Cute as a bug, just like out Mona. But every stop includes gonker breaks for the dogs, a water break, and a snack if necessary. Then it is time to fuel and take a break ourself.
I usually reward myself with a white bread turkey sandwich consisting of white bread and turkey. Now these grab a lunch items are an excellent source for sorbic acid salts, benzoic acid, calcium propionate, sodium nitrite (and sodium nitrate which converts to sodium nitrite "in situ"), sulfites (sulfur dioxide, sodium bisulfite, potassium hydrogen sulfite, etc.) and disodium EDTA, antioxidants include BHA, BHT, TBHQ, propyl gallate, ethanol, and methylchloroiso-thiazolinone.
But we will make it as we usually do and arrive at the slow paced breezy 6,700 foot elevation home in the mountains. It will be peaceful and relaxing. I hope to do some hiking, fishing, reading, and cooking. I hope Devin can take a load off and relax as she could really use it.
