Post 600 CLICK HERE To See Past PostsFebruary/2012

We helped Jack with some Religion homework in the afternoon as we got close and closer to the Red Carpet ceremony for the Oscars. Then Kristin arrived and the new trick is to use the DVR machine to stop every star in their steps and criticize what they are wearing.

That was enough for me. I asked Jack if he would like a non-fast food hamburger. Then I called Ryan who was packing his duffle bag for his two day sentence to Los Angeles this week, to see if he wanted to go to Hanna's. And off we went.

Jack and I had burger delciousso, and Ryan had a filet and soup. It was a great night and we almost missed the never ending awards ceremony.

We got home, I tweaked a few portfolios and played an investing game. In the MarketSmith website they have a game called Chart Arcade. They give you a fictitious $10,000 and using technical indicators ONLY, you choose to buy or sell or sell short the stock of an unidentified but real stock from their charts over the last 50 years. You have the volume figures the rise and fall of the price and the movement of the S&P 500. You have no fundamental information at all. It is really fun.

Dear Lord, I just read that paragraph. I have no life! How sad. It is even worse than that. Last week a group of us were talking about beautiful women on TV and I suggested that Sarah Eisen, Margaret Brennan, and Betty Leiu were nice looking gals. Nobody had any idea who I was talking about. They are Journalists and Analysts on the Bloomberg channel. So Sad.

Just to prove I have not lost my mind:

Sarah

Margarette

and Betty

Today begins a new week and Man Child bounced right out of bed. Devin had prepared his lunch last night so I just had to assemble. I got him to school with lots of time to spare. When I got back, we had our garage full of new cabinets. They should be installed by the end of the week. Yay!, we can start putting our house back in order.

The it was time to see the dental hygienist. It only took about 25 minutes to scrape the caliche off my teeth.

I did notice that while you are in the chair, you really are "in the now". You can't really worry about the past or ponder the future the whole time you are lying there with sharp objects being stuck in your mouth. You are focusing on whether she will go oooopppppps. She didn't.

Then it was time to head into the salt mines and review a few documents. Then we had the pleasure of cleaning up our e-mail boxes. I do this about once a week, but it is amazing how much stuff gets collected over the period of a week. I have 9 folders set up to handle the categories of e-mails. I have sent, to do, wine, BAGAKOAA (That is the investment stuff), econ, SMCHS, SMCHS Football, SMCHS Basketball, and a couple others. The there is the deleted file. Today between all the files, there were 1,840 e-mails to address.

Ellen brought me in lunch today so I could keep plodding away. We did catch the closing of the market and right before that discovered one of our readers who I invited into the Salve Lucrum portfolio had funded their account so with minutes left, we deployed their cash in our core holdings. (More Later).

As the afternoon wound down, the weather here got ugly. We are do for a severe winter storm in the mountains and very cold temps here (33 degrees F and about 1 C). That is cold for us.

We almost stayed above the magic number, but in the last minutes of trading, backed down. The markets were weak at the opening. To the point, I was thinking that my guess about the green flag on Friday might be in jeopardy. Traders seemed empathetic as Germany was pooh poohing the Greece deal. Then we had some good pending home sales numbers and the market came off the lows, crossed above the magic number before rolling back.

PCLN, as Cramer suggested, told us that the travel market is doing well. They had a nice beat and an interesting growth story to tell. WE DO NOT own PCLN. Asia Pacific travel number were especially robust.

I am not a professional investment advisor. Anybody reading my blog and investing accordingly must be out of their minds. I have made more money than I have lost. There are many more qualified people than I to actually tell you how to invest your money.
